Desperately need a place to go offroading within an hour of Albany, NY. Looking for anything, trails, rocks, mud, preferably legal, or at least somewhere I'm not gonna get trouble.

Yeah right, I can't even take my Banshee anywhere legal other then Tug Hill. When I off road its usally never legal. I don't even know of any private offroad parks. But I would like to hear of any that might be around. Good luck Vince 09-12-2004, 02:38 PM :dunno: I don't know of any public places around Albany either. o07freak 09-12-2004, 06:25 PM Well doesn't have to neccesarily be legal, just somewhere I won't get into trouble too easily. SBCStang 09-13-2004, 08:00 AM Happy Valley has "seasonal" highways. They are dirt roads and logging trails. Some washed out, some lead to swamps. Pretty fun. All levels. I took my 2wd through there a couple times. To do the real good stuff, need 4wd. NYmudbogger 09-15-2004, 01:42 PM I'm in saratoga springs. When i get the my 14 bolt problem situated on my truck. Which i hope is soon, i'll do a post on here and we'll find a meeting place. Or we can meet at my place and head out and do some boggin. We can go out for a couple hour bog or we can go out till you and your truck cant take anymore. A heads up warning for you to... ALL my friends are ford guys and they will give you hell about your truck like they do to me... so be ready for it! Yukoneer 09-17-2004, 11:06 AM I'm up for it. tell me the time/place and i'm there (hopefully) synthelabo 09-22-2004, 12:35 AM There is some great off roading in Binghamton, not quite within an hours drive of Albany. It's called River Trails, not really legal but lots of trucks there every day, never heard of anyone getting in any trouble other than sinking their vehicle in mud. I it is located behind Freighoffers Bakery on RT 434 in Vestal. If you need specifics let me know. ibthumpin 09-22-2004, 06:15 PM There is some great off roading in Binghamton, not quite within an hours drive of Albany. I it is located behind Freighoffers Bakery on RT 434 in Vestal. If you need specifics let me know. Hey you're pretty close to me. I know about where that is. If there's alot of vehicles showing up, you can bet it wont last long - isnt that the area where they just built the walking trails?? I can imagine that people will be/are complainging about it. synthelabo 09-22-2004, 10:23 PM Your thinking of the new Vestal Rail Trail, that is not the same as the River Trails, they are several miles apart. The entrance to the river trails is behind the bakery. To get there from sidney you would take the vestal exit off rt 17, turn left at the stoplight at the end of the exit ramp onto rt 434 go maybe 4-5 miles, turn right at stopligt into castle gardens (there is a sign labeling it as castle gardens) and then an immediate right into the bakery parking lot, go to the end of the parking lot and there will be an open gate which is the entrance to the trails. I've been goin there with friends since 1991 and have had no problems or complaints. I will be going down there with a buddy this afternoon some time (thurs 9/23) so let me know if your interested in going along. Should be less than a half hour drive from sidney.
