i have come across a deal for a new manifold that will apparently work on my motor. heres what the guy has told me:

____________________________________________________________
I've done a TPI swap into a '96, if you're not afraid of doing some wiring, its not that bad. You'll need to get the wiring for the ends that go to the injectors (I think I still have them), and (gasp!) cut all 16 wires that go into the poppet injector body and splice them to the individual injectors, I used a manual that had a schematic as to which color wire goes to which cylinder. Also need to mod the TPI fuel rail to connect to the lines in your truck, I've got this piece with an adjustable regulator, will hook right up to vortec lines. Also might need to move the ac compressor over to clear the throttle linkage, I modified a stock bracket with 1/2" plate aluminum to clear. Doesn't look pretty, but it's sturdy and it works, just needed a longer belt. I also modified the upper plentum to attach the MAP (?) and another sensor to the underside of the upper plentum. I have the base to fit a TPI to Vortec heads also.

............his next email....

well, I finally went thru and figured out how much I put into the TPI swap, worked good for a couple weeks, but the engine didn't hold up. anyways, I have: Modified fuel rails (paid $220, had to mod myself to make them work, waste of $), Adjustable Press reg ($60), Vortec base ($399, go to SDPC2000.com, look under fuel systems, intake manifolds, SDPC TPI Vortec baseplate. they have the EGR kit too($69.25)), Modified A/C bracket, 24#/hr injectors, the injectors and they are standard Bosch style, you can use any size you need.

soo what do u all think...can this work on my supercharged motor?? can i use Westers chip to tune the motor? i would buy 34# injectors to use as well instead of the 24#.

thoughts...any and ALL feedback is very welcomed!!! PLEASE HELP ME!
TIA

Looks interesting AJ, All Lyndon needs is the flow rate of the injectors to tune it.

I talked to fastchips a while ago about this and says it can be tuned for. Keep us updated on the project. I've been wanting to do this but lack of funds and other transportation kinda gets in the way.

Did he say why his engine didn't hold up?

didnt say why the motor broke... im still waiting for his email back...but this would be last resort if i can't get the fmu and stuff working right...

although id commend a better breathing apparatus is in need, but not
a TPI for supercharging. the vortec heads flow rate is more demading
than the runners can really support. you might look into a RamJet 350
manifold or S&P RamPort manifold. they have a larger plenum volume to
support the larger pressure of the compressor. hence the TPI forced
induction peeps lean towards the lingenfelter super ram. this has more
than twice the plenum and far shorter runners to feed the manifold.
tell me this... what is your goal? powerwise? moneywise?

my goal right now, is to just get the damn thing to run right... thats simply it. once i can get the motor to run at a nice 12:1 a/f, then i'll swap pullies to a 10psi (currently 8psi) and call her good... i really don't want to spend any more money in the motor now. but i just want her to run right!!!

the truck goes into the shop next week. my mechanic will tap the manifold for the vac line for the fmu, since it is currently off the brake booster, with two T's... its not a good source of vacuum...

either way...

hey deano, i wanted to ask u. can i lengthen my injector pulse rate?? i have the GM version of MPFI using actual 19# injectors.. Lyndon said he can do this, all he needs to know is in what rpm... is this safe to do??? my mechanic will get the current legth, then tell me what to step it up to..
thanks for the advice!

Why a TPI? Isn't that 80's technology? There's better out there now-a-days.

PS

An injector should never be used at more than 80-85% of its rate. Use that figure when deciding how much injector you'll need.

thanks for the heads up goatman.
BTW, how u liking ur v-rod...my dad was going to trade in his 01' ultra for it, but they wouldn't give us enough $$$ for ours...my dealer guy said he would sell one to me for 15.5 out the door... not bad huh...do u have the aluminum one or a painted one? i love the aluminum one, but the painted ones look sick as wel..

Aj, you have a Harley dealer that will sell you a vew V Rod for 15.5, are you serious? That's a great price!

AJ don't go tpi man. I agree with airdeano. The vortec heads can support more air than the TPI will deliver. I'd bet there are tons of hidden costs involved with that swap as well... It may turn out to be more of a headache than you've currently got.

aj,
yes its the best way to supplement the fuel until the secondary FMU
kicks in. watch the pulse width at RPM and HO2S. i think its 15-18ms is
85% duty cycle for the vortec.

thanks Stuck/Deano...
i prolly won't go with that setup then..

Also, Butch, yes, i can get the V-rod for 15.5. thats even the new 04' model with the different color paints instead of the aluminum body...my dealer is hurting to get rid of them. plus, he knows me pretty well. i mean, c'mon, when u buy a 25K bike from the guy, of course he going to be nice. he even hooked me up with the Stage 1 performance kit for my dads ultra... as well as a few other things... why u interested??? lmk...

deano, i'll get the pulse length stuff and let u know what it is. then i can determine where to move it to.
