I'm thinking of going with either 18s or 20s on my truck, prob 18s since it's a daily driver and I live in the city. I'd like it to tuck with air ride. Probably ARTs Cool Ride up front and thier newer 4 link triangular rear setup.

I'm thinking 18x8 in the front and 18x9.5 in the rear.... what kind of backspacing would I need? Also what size tires would you recommend? I'd like to stay as wide as possible and still have a good size sidewall, but be able to tuck when I finally get my air ride set up. Not looking to lay frame or anything that extreme.

i believe its 5.5" backspacing to tuck on an 8" rim. i'm sure someone else will know for sure. i'm about 95% sure

so both the front and the back use the same backspacing to tuck?

yes. I had 4 20x8.5" wheels, all the same 5.5" backspacing.

I have 18x8's in front with 5" backspace, and 18x9.5's in back with 6" backspace. Front tires are 255/45/18, rears are 275/40/18

Mike, love the way your truck looks, any problems with driving with that size tire? is it possible to have a larger sidewall with at least a 275?

No problems whatsoever. Rides nice and smooth at 80psi all around. You can get a higher profile tire in the back if you want, but I was trying to stay as close to 27inches as I could.

does this rule apply to stock spindles or drop spindles that don't push the wheel out 3/4" like the belltech's do (from what i've heard). i have the belltech's and it seems like my tires are out a little bit...im looking at 20 x 8.5 rim with +15mm offset which translates to about 5.34" of backspacing. will this rim plus my belltech's still tuck on my burb?

The belltech push-out is only a problem if you have a NBS truck. OBS trucks dont have that spindle issue.

5.25" on 8" and 5.5" on 8.5" to be sure. 5.75" on 9", 6" on 9.5" and 6.5" on 10:D
why is the step from 9.5" to 10" bigger (.5" bs diff)?

what is the widest wheel that will fit inside the wheel housing without too much chopping?

how is your turning radius with that tire setup? any rubbing issues lock to lock? im looking to get the biggest tire i can run and still be low on my burb. i still have the fender liners up front. im running the stock 235-75-15 and when i air it out, the inner fender sits on the front tires...without them i think my front will lay out..also, would i have clearance my rear wells with that size tire? any help appreciated. thanks...

Front: 19x8 5" backspacing 245/35-19 tires
Rear: 20x10 6" backspacing 285/30-20 tires

The rears really should be 6.5-7" or so, but they work with my setup and I love the deeper dish look anyhow.

man your truck is so awesome :worship:

what did you have to modify to fit those wheels in the back?

Not a damn thing. My fender lips were already shaved nearly off from when I had my 17's and 305/45 tires, so they fit without any further modifications. When aired down, I can squeeze a pinky finger between the wheel and the fender lip.

what size/bs were your 17s? tires up front? you don't happen to own those 17s anymore? ;)

1badgmc

17x8 and 17x9.5
Not sure of the backspacing on them, though. I had 245/45s in front. Sorry, don't have 'em anymore. A buddy of mine has 'em now.
