a friend of mine put in a filler plate over top of the opening, its polished diamond plate aluminum, and he cut out a hole in the plate and put a tach in it...its nice lookin...sorry dont got ne pics of it..but u can do it urself pretty easilly... just get some diamond plate aluminum and measure and cut it out, drill some holes and put some bolts in it to hold it in place in the factory dash bolt holes, and put the tach in there...

ohh...the tach idea aint gonna work then....hmm, you could always put the filler plate over the hole and mount some switches ffrom ne extra lights you might have, or you could always get some extra gauges and throw in there ...like air/fuel ratio gauges, trans temp or somethin like that....

I bought a piece of ABS plastic and cut it to size and glued it in the hole and put a switch for my line-loc, an armed light, and a switch for my KC lights in there. Looks pretty good.

I ordered a stock headunit and slave cassette player out of an '00 on ebay. My truck didn't have a CD player and I know the slave CD players are junk and I wanted the something factory so I went this route. Everything was plug and play and it looks like it came from the factory that way.

well do this get fiberglass and make a filler plate. then cut out a chevy emblem and do the same cut out to the plexiglass just a bit larger. then there is a choice from there with the neon either be real different and leave it c through so u can c everything. or paint the plexiglass real good. mount the neon somewhere behind the filler plate close to the middle of the emblem if u paint it or off to the side or top or bottom if not painted. if u paint the emblem mount it anywhere behind there. DO NOT paint the sides of the plexiglass because when u turn on the neon the sides of the emblem will glow make the color of the neon outline around the emblem. that is what u should do. im going to do that too but im getting switches put in under the emblem and trying to find a way to get those to glow an outline too. oh yea paint it all except the outline when ur done to match ur truck then get otherstuff painted inside to match ur truck just to set off some interior accents. let me know if u need anything else.

I love having the cassette player down there. I've got this cassette and its got a wire and I plug that wire into the laptop and I can play anything over the truck speakers. Instead of hunting for a certain CD I just open up the media player and play the songs I want to hear.
