Hello.
I have a 2001 GMC Sierra with a Escalade Clip on it. www.cardomain.com/id/wisesuperman
This winter, I am planning on shaving everything (Door Handles, 3rd Brake Lights, Cadillac tail light conversion) and smoothing the whole back end (Weld the tail gate in and smooth everything back there). For the interior, I am a little more unsure what to do about it. I am going to get a custom fibergalss sub box holding 2 JL Audio W7 subs, and 3 JL Audio amps (2 500/1 and a 300/4). I am lookin at designs on how to do this, and I was wondering if there is anyway to cut the backseat into 2 little bucket seats. My idea is to make a fuberglass enclosure that runs from the dash to between teh back seats, then put the subs and amps in there. If you guys hvae any ideas, they would be greatly appreicated, as the paint and body fork is done in 4 weeks, and I would like to get going on the interior.
Thanks, Britt Coulson

you could cut em, but why not try and gefront seats out of a similar truck? that way you have 4 matching seats?
custom brackets would have to be made to match the boy lines, and of course a custom console would make it look awsome!

I was origionally thinking of more front buckets in the back, and i have a bench in the front, so i need to buy buckets for the front also, but arent the back seats shorter, or will the buckets fit rite in there, cause it is an Extended cab, not the crew cab.
Thanks, Britt

well, if your going for look over function id still say buckets front and back, if your going for function id stay with the bench

You could use Escalade front and rear buckets, and just build a custom console.

They should have built that as the SS, I think it looks better. And you know it is faster :burn:

ill be redoing my rear floor coming this spring.... ive already removed my bench seat and just cut a piece of 3/4 MDF and bolted it across the stock seat bracket....
but i cannt do a bucket seat yet tho.....
but once i check around the junk yards for a small bucket seat that will help alot.... but i want a passenger bucket seat preferably with a arm rest..... and well im a preaty good size so its not gonna be my leg space sacrafice.LOL
ive thought about just choping into the factory bench seat and shortening it drasticaly... but it would still just be a stactianary seat so id rather finda small bucket seat.
but anyways since im gonna be doing a subwoofer box on the passenger side im gonna be doing a full weld in metal frame to level out the rear floor that way i have something realy strong to bolt the seat to and the seat belt and box of course.....

Thanks for all of the replys. I decided to sacrifice the back bench and the center console in the front in the name of massive bass. I am now about 1/2 done the new 3 12" Sub fiberglass box. I am also making a new fiberglass console to house the deck and switches to operate all of my aftermarket goodies. I will post pics soon.

Ok, here is a picture of the box so far. Since I cant do the rings or the fiberglass front yet, as I do not know what kind of sub I will be using, I am going to focus on painting the interior panels, doors, and dash with the HOK Kandy Green that the box and the tribal flames on the outside will be painted with. Everything should tie in together nicely.

you dont know wha tkinda equipment your gonna be runnen yet? :( its best to find out what you gonna use and build the box around that.... unless you dont care how good it sounds and only want looks!LOL
you even know if your gonna do sealed or ported?
looks good so far tho... i wish i had your 4doors.....LOL at least 3. :(
my worst thing is i gotta gut my interior just to get the box in :( but i guess i wouldnt have to worry much about smash and grabs tho.LOL
id start my box today BUT its raining out and i dont have a cover on my bed :( and we all now how MDF is when it gets wet :(

hello
I am hopeing to get at least a 1/2 sponser for the audio gear once the truck is painted, and if i cannot get one I will run 3 JL W6v2's with 3 JL 500/1's. I want sealed because I am not looking for mass amounts of air blowing only. I want good SQ, as my truck is also a daily, and be able to crank it up when I feel the need to show off at shows, or if a cutie pulls up beside me.
I am planning on doing some trials of sanding the interior panels down, glassing them then, then painting them the kandy green. I hope to do some this weekend, so I will post some more pics soon.

nice but ported realy doesnt make it sound like crap....LOL just depends on the tunning... most people tune high for SPL scores which sounds like @ss daily.LOL
ive ported my last 4subs and everytime ported sounds beter and louder. i always tune to about 32hz. sounds great. what do ya gotta loose ;)
but hey its all good either way you go. good luck with geting sponsored. definatly post up pics :D
id like to see it when your done! should look killer

The other problem with ported is I have only build sealed boxes, and I am unsure of how to tune it to the right hertz.

ya it can be tricky.....typicaly the subwoofer manufacture will sugest a ported box and help ya out planing it...
i still have people help me out with my port size and length ;)
after my first ported box ill never go back sealed.LOL

I would have stolen some heated buckets out of a tahoe and made some brackets for them(then again i'm probably living in a magical world where everything always works as easy as it sounds). Then run a box that flows inbetween the front and rear seats that hold 3 18" RE XXX subs. Sponsors will be on your nuts just to get their hands on a truck like that.

01-14-2005, 02:01 PM
you insain dude.LOL
for the 18XXX EACH... need 4cubes sealed and about 8-10cubes ported....
so unless you chop out the whole rear and use most the bed and i do mean MOST the bed.LOL thiers no way.... i dont think thiers very many people that like blowthrus!
only way that would be decent would be on a avalanche truck.
i do want heated seats tho.LOL BUT only in the front buckets..... but id do it cheap as posible and just use the elements under my cloth seats..... i dont care for leather to much.... at least not for a daily driver!

has anyone tried taking some of those little seats they use in the rangers and such that mount on the side of the cab and fold down, i was thinking of trying that instead of buckets in the rear.

not sure what ya mean?
but for the rear buckets they have to be small!!!!!!!!! i tried my stock seat in the rear cab and thier was literly like no leg room! :(

Just a little helpful reminder, using Tahoe front buckets or any stock GM truck front buckets will make your rear seats totally unusable. There will be absolutely no leg room at all. The front of the seats will be against the back of your front seats. Just trying to save you guys some time, money, and hassle. Your best bet would be to find a local upholstery shop and see if they can modify your stock rear bench into two small buckets. It can be done and shouldnt be to ridiculously priced.

I plan on taking my back bench seat out of my 98 ext cab, modifying it, and building a box to house 2 Solo-Baric 12 L7s coming around both sides of the bench seat. So in all honesty, I will be chopping a certain amount off of either side of my bench seat, hopefully still having room for 2 people, but it might be just room for one (honestly fine with me). Build my two speaker mounts coming up on either side of the seat, and having the seat lift up to house my built in amp rack. The box will be ported, and I may try to make the top of the boxes just high enough for use as an arm-rest, if possible, as I would still like to be able to see out of the side rear windows. Just thought I would share my idea. By the way, the ideas in this thread are overwhelming, but I'm guessing the best bet would be to go to a local shop, getting them to do your seat modifying, but only after you have built your box and get the measurements you'll need for your seats, that way they can fit perfectly and look great too. Good luck with it.

ya ive already said fullsize seats wont work.... when i had my drivers seat out it would go back BUT it was only like 2-3inches between the seats.LOL
i think a S10 seat would work...
i thought about chopiing the bench down... but just realy dont wanna.. probably wouldnt look right

Back to the question at hand....What are some easy to find extended cabs that have rear "jump seats"? Didn't some fsc's have them? I found these on ebay, but I'd build them before I paid 450 + shipping. They are from a landrover of course

01-25-2005, 05:06 PM
Look for early 90s extended cab Ford F-150s and look for basically any Tacoma Extended Cab truck also (maybe not the new ones). They should all have jump seats. Oh yeah... Mid to late 90 Montero LS's came with them and Toyota Landrovers had a few. Hmmm... there are actually quite a few vehicles, but for trucks... early Fords and Tacomas.

i thought about just making my own lately.....LOL
cannt beat just some THICK FOAM..... razor blade and some fabric..... should work great! and pleanty cheap!LOL
as soon as the ground dries out im gonna run to the junk yard and do a walk thru the yard and see what i can find........ but i only need one bucket. im gonna make my box to the roof so that will be given me pleanty of width to spare for the seat :D
i think those rover seats would be to wide at least for my use. for a small system they would be good tho probably..... ill do some researching once it gets good enough to go explore the yard....... we all know how crapy it can get when it snows and rains :(

I'm thinking about using some seats like SLMDLT1 had for sale. They were buckets out of a celica or something liket that. I hope to have a full console between them all. I know the seats in the rear will not have a lot of leg room, but I'm a short fock, so my seat is never all the way back.

but it could still be a :badidea:

preaty much done with my 18XXX ported box :D
DAM..... well before i could have change on my middle console.LOL now it jumps...... :D I LOVE IT!!!
i still gotta do alittle tweeking to the amp, and cut another baffle for the front so the sub is preaty much flush looken.
and now i wish i put alittle angle back on the front since i cannt put my seat all the way back.... but its close enough for good comfort. so thats fine realy.
i put the box upon its side to see how it would be and well it would be way to the roof and take up all of my sliding window. so i just forgot that idea.....

changed the floor vinyl to match the silver carpeting....
tho i still want to change the rear wall carpeting it to match as well. that carpet was factory grey...

and how about that third seat J/K i still gotta check out the junk yard for asmall bucket seat to put back thier. and ill probably change the amp around and put in on the back of the box and screw a arm rest on the side of the box.
