After a little rain my obs suburban smells rotten. Like bad mildew or something. Ive looked for water leaks and can't find any. It goes away in a day or if it rains alot its not there? what gives ? any ideas? Its getting old driving a stinky truck :puke:

Pull the carpet out and let it dry. While the carpet isout run some water over the cab. Check for standing water in the cab.

Have you had the windshield replaced? The top edge is a common place to get a leak if you've got a new windshield and it wasn't installed right. We've got two trucks that leak there, one is so bad it needs a new headliner because it smells like mildew and its sagging.

Do you have rear air? My sub did the same thing but it was the drainage tube from the rear air that somehow was kinked and began to drain the condensation in the back. I could swear it only happend after the rain, but i was wrong.

Lift carpet in the rear and check corners below the posts. I learned that several '99 and older models were bad about leaking at the rear post. A local body shop told me that they had repaired several suburbans for leaking at the rear posts. I hope this helps...

Mine does that when I hide dead people in the back seat.

My girlfriend's blazer smells musty when you turn the air conditioner on. It is just because condensation forms in the duct work. If that isn't it you probably have a leaky windshield. I had a few trucks that woul get wet carpet once in a while from a leak and unless you pull the carpet up or live in Arizona it will never completely dry out. It is especialy bad if you have a vinyl floor beacuse the padding has no way to breath and it will stay wet permenantly. I have already caulked the weather stripping seam shut on the top of the cab and it seemed to work well.
