i want to do this but I cannot figure out how to remove the glass, does it just pop off? or can this not be done?

yeah it pops off but it is a pita ... when I did it I thought I would brake the glass .... I used a screwdriver and started by poping some of the tabs I could get too ...... and I just pulled

Yeah, like stated above you can pop it off, but it's going to break.

Since the GM LED mirrors aren't available for those style mirrors, it may be a cool mod IMO. Just buy new or used glass pieces and try it out :cool:

ok good deal guys thanks!

for all leds and resistors its around 13 bucks. ill grab 4 pieces of glass from him just in case..

The $18 is for the glass and plastic backing piece. FYI.

We got a replacement for the SS mirror locally for $20.

Yeah, but good luck seperating the glass from it......they use like hot glue or some chit!

Yeah, like stated above you can pop it off, but it's going to break.
Funny Mine didn't brake ..... But like I said I popped all the taps that I could first

There are about 12 clips in a circle dead center of the mirror back. Most are hard to get to and if you tweak it just a little off the mirror will crack. I would put a couple layers of masking take on tha glass part to make it a little stronger while doing this. Mine was cracked before i took it apart, but even then the plastic frame was getting tweaked pretty good. I even broke the new one "popping" it on to all the little clips again. When you do it push dead center of the cirle or you'll be buying another mirror. :eek:

i think im going to go ahead and order one for each side unless he says im able to return them, if so then ill go ahead and get two for each side just in case.

it will be a little bit, but i am going to tackle this little project, i think it will look great!

yeah I broke my new mirrors putting them on too ... man I was so pissed

funny guy LOL No I didn't do this one I got Mirrors with leds in them from SIK which I broke .. so since the LEDS are still good I was thinking of doing this with those leds since they would have the angles of the leds and the shape

CKTA, Does Cromer sell mirror glass? Who are they? The "loose" mirror of mine that I mentioned in another thread fell off today! I should have taped it! Anyway, did anyone ever finish this LED mod? My 88' K1500 has the huge chrome single tube mirrors without the plastic that the link mentiones. If I do the LED mod should I make a plastic arrow and glue it to the back of the mirror? Thanks!
