hell yeah thats bad ass, how do i put it in my signature? Is there any way that I can chang the background on it myself without photshop. I think it would look cool as hell with snow covered mountain trails and rocks and stuff in the background and Rough Country and a bowtie somewhere in it. I like the HvyChevyZ71! There are more pics at my picturetrail folder, to bad it won't link. Thanks chuggernautt I appreciate it.

I got into your Picturetrail folder -- went to picturetrail and just looked for your username. Luckily you used the same name both here and there.
Anyways, I wish I would've had these pics from the get go... now I'll have more to work with. There are a few here that I think would look cool.
Unfortunately, I'm ~400 miles from work and the computer that I did the original on, and I didn't make a copy of the original. So I'm going to start over from scratch here and should have something up sometime tomorrow.
If you have a specific pic of the snow trails in mind, post it here and I'll include it in the background for ya.
Hey Chugger, can you do me a favor and send me your mailing address and shirt size? I think you at least deserve a free FSC shirt for helpin gus out so much with the sigs and all...

You don't have to send me a shirt. Just knowing that my work is appreciated is more than enough. :D But since you asked, I just sent you the info via PM.

I'll be the first to admit... that first shot was kinda rushed because I wanted to get something done for you before the end of lunch. Now that I've had a bit more time to work on it and a few more pictures to reference, I think you'll agree that this is much much better.

Hey Mark, I'm happy for the shirt offer, but on second thought, please don't do anything special for me unless you do the same for some other members that are a bit more deserving. Especially Wreck. He was a key part in bringing me up to speed with the power of Photoshop and if it weren't for his help, I'd still be toying with 4.0.

Chuggernaut,
I am fairly decent with photoshop but I was wondering how exactly you are cutting the trucks out of the other photos and putting them in the new background. I know you can use the lasso tool to cut stuff but you always seem to follow the lines of the truck so well. How do you do it?

I used to lasso things left and right, but because I don't have the steadiest of hands, I found a new a trick. If you open your source picture and hit "Alt+Ctrl+X", a new window will pop up where you can "Extract" the focal point of the image.
In the new window, start by highlighting the perimeter of the truck and then fill in the enclosed area with the paintcan. Hit OK and it'll return you to the original with the majority of the background gone. Then I just fine tune it with the eraser (set to a fanned circular airbrush or paintbrush) and go around the edges. This is a lot more forgiving because the eraser edges are then set to adjust the transparency of the pic instead of leaving a sharp line.
From there, I just copy and paste into the new pic and close out the original without saving it.
For straight edges, you can also use the lasso. Click on the start point of the straight section, then drag into the background area and end at the other end of where the straight edge will be. Photoshop will automatically close the selection with a straight line from the start point to the end point.
Hope this helps.

I think I'm going to start a new thread in this area to answer that because it seems to be a popular question nowadays.
Also how can i get my folder at picturetrail to link to the address I listed.
I could be wrong here, but I think the main reason that the link in your sig doesn't work is because it doesn't point to a specific webpage. It ends in "/members", not a ".com" or ".html". If you're not afraid of a little html coding, we can probably make the sig pic your hyperlink like I did with mine. I'll cover that in the new thread as well.

Chuggernaut,
Just tried it and it worked great. That is so much easier!!! Thanks for the help. I am going to try to make me a sig now. If you have the time check out my photos in the link at my sig and see what you can do with it. I am sure you will be better at it than me! Thanks so much for the help.

I had heard about yoursighost.com from a guy over at the other forum I'm involved with, GMForums.com and passed the word on. This was before they had trouble over there.
I just signed up myself and am seeing the same thing. Apparently the "new management" hasn't worked out all of the bugs yet. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm just a user at best and have no idea who is at the reigns over there. Best I can do is now that I have pics stored there, I can let you know if I see that any changes have taken place.

Hey HvyChevy,
I just got an email from yoursighost.com -- hopefully you got it, too.
If not, it basically said that they had to restructure the whole site and in order for your sigs to work, they're asking that you sign up again. I'm going to do it now.

finallly got it workin:head: anyways, chuggernaut i was wandering if you could stick in the rockford fosgate RF logo on the bottom left of my sig or either replace it with the bowtie whatever looks better or even something else if you think it is better. I was also thinking about putting in the real Z71 logo on my model in place of the Z71 in the hvychevyZ71. I know your very busy with everyone else's logo's and your own things so whenever you have time I would appreciate it. I promise this is the last time I bother you, i just want it perfect and its pretty clost already. thanks.

that is similar to what i was thinking except that the Z71 you put in is from the newer model designs, mine is the 88-98 one. Also the left is kinda off balanced with the logos, Im trying to think of some way to balance them even, it might even take adding another. tell me what you think besides me bothering the hell out of you:D thanks man.

Bothering the hell out of me? Nah. I just need to take stock in Preparation H.
Honestly, it's not a problem. :)
My mistake there on the Z71. I forgot that the older decal has a more stenciled look to it and doesn't have the bold outline. As for balancing the logos, it isn't that bad if you look at it. That front pic on the right tends to dominate the banner. I shuffled all 3 icons several times before I came up with this. I'll see what it looks like if I move the FSC logo over there somewhere. Personally, I'm afraid that it may start to look to cluttered if we throw too many more logos into the mix. But we'll see.

OK, how's this? I've got the Z71 issue resolved and the logos seem more balanced now.

04-11-2002, 05:30 PM
I like the Z71 logo but i think it would look better all together instedad of below the hvychevy. I put some new pics in my picturetrail folder, so maybe you could fade one into the background in the middle between the two truck pics to fill up the gap if you think it needs it. Also maybe change the right side pic if it looks better, if you dont think so dont worry bout it:confused: Also im still not crazy about the bowtie, i mean i like it but it seems not balanced with it up in the corner and nothing on the right side. What do you think about a rebel flag in the Z71 or hvychvyZ71? If you think more logos would look better i think a MSD, K&N or flowmaster would look good to. If you dont wont to mess with it anymore I understand, youve already helped more than enough. Thanks for everything.
P.S (Sorry to be a picky bastard.)

04-11-2002, 11:24 PM
At least I got the Z71 fixed... LOL
I'm thinking of losing the bowtie altogether. A rebel flag in the Z71 might be cool in another application, but since it's part of your screenname and the font is undersized so that it doesn't dominate the rest too much, I'm not sure that the flag will even show. But I'll give it a try if I can find a flat rebel flag icon with no waves in it or anything. As for adding more logos, I'm hesitant to do to many more. I'm sure you don't want your sig to look like a rice rocket.
Chuggernaut
04-12-2002, 11:42 AM
Ok, Z71 fixed, same color as HvyChevy and now on the same level. The rebel flag wouldn't work for me. Text is too thin to make the flag out.
Frontal pic on right scaled down a bit so that it your name fits and is readable.
Transparent shot of the rear of your truck added.
Bowtie removed.
I think I've got it.

04-16-2002, 08:06 PM
man chuggernaut, I cant make up my mind. I like the way the Z71 is but now im thinking about it looking like this (Hvy Chevy)
Z71
and maybe in different colors, im not sure which color would look best. the truck in the background makes you unable to see the mountains so i guess take that out. What do you think about the new pics in my folder? I like the one showing the front tire and the side of my truck, that might look good on the right corner but maybe not. would the bowtie look good behind the Z71? Just let me know what you think about all this and maybe we can come up with a FINAL sig. lol. Thanks for everything.
Charlie.

Hey, no biggie. We all have a tough time making up our minds about something or another. Just be glad I'm not charging for my work. LOL :D
Here are my thoughts on your sig.
As for your screenname, I think the most recent attempt is the best. If I were to change anything, I'd probably change all of the text back to white. Or keep it blue. The gray Z71 in the one attempt doesn't stand out as nicely. Parentheses around HvyChevy wouldn't look right at all.
I remember the tire shots from your folder, but I'm not sure which side shot you're referring to. You're right, the transparent pic of the back of your truck hides the background too much.
Personally, I like the other two pics though. That grille guard and light setup gives your truck a real aggressive look that I thought would be worth calling attention to. The other pic is a good shot showing the articulation you've got which would have to be the other big feature that makes your truck unique. That's why I chose that shot.
So overall, if I were to change anything about the most recent attempt, I think it would be best to lose the new transparent shot and perhaps recolor your screenname. Let me know what you want to do and I'll do it.

im thinking about white to in the hvy chevy but what about a dark blue background or would that not stand out? Also what about the font of the hvy chevy, i like it b/c it looks aggressive but if there is something more agggresive we could try that, if not it looks fine. Def. loose the faded pic in the background. I guess we'll leave the two pics, I do like them. Is there anywhere for the bowtie without overcrouding it or making it look like the side of a nascar. Overall its is without a doubt bad ass. yeah im REALLY glad you dont charge, esp. for edits. Thanks for everything.

I admit, I let this one get a bit out of hand... I should probably delete all the interim posts before anyone else gets the wise idea to get picky...
I should've listened to wreck in the first place and not been such a pushover. From here on out, I'll make a maximum of 2 sig attempts until a drastic modification is done on the subject truck. Only then will I offer an edit.

I actually found it all humorous. It reminded me of the Bugs Bunny/Yosemite Sam cartoon. Where bugs draws the line in the dirt and says" I dare you to cross this line".. No, this one, No,this one, that one, This one, etc...... And this is definitely the record for the most posts for a single signature, and the most changes to one also. Good Job Guys. and remember, it's all in good fun.....:D
