View Full Version : Overhead console swap-ability?

I was quite fond of the OH console I had in my Tahoe, (the OBS style) which I do believe was available in some early NBS trucks (the longer one with the two flip down compartments) and I see a ton of them on Ebay and wonder if I could put one in my 04 without much work? The roof contour seems slightly different and I don't want to get into a situation where I am slashing and hacking my headliner to try to get it to fit.
Any advice I'd appreciate.

Thats the type of console I have in mine - I dont know about the contour of the new trucks tho. ONe compartment is for CD's and the other is for sunglasses (then theres a third for a garage door opener)

Yours dosent have the longer console? I guess I just assumed that it did beings that its an ext cab.

As far as I know, the 03's and up all have the shorty OH console. I would like to put the long in, because that is what I had before and the multi storage compartments would be more practical for me.

tell you what, if you dont get it figured out, we'll pull mine out at Carlisle and see if it fits in yours. :D

:think: Did not know that. But now that you mention it, the '04 catalogs do not mention the extended overhead console anywhere, while the '02 says they were optional for the LS and and standard for the LT packages. Damn GM cost-saving measures! :cussing: With that in mind though, I would think that you could install a longer one from a '99-'02 with little modification if any.
