Truck in Sig....soon to be installed-4" spindles, 1" coil spacers/3" blocks
285/75/16 or 305/70/16
going on the Black Wagon Wheels on truck now (16x7)
Lift Kit will be here tomorrow or Monday!!!
What do y'all recommend for tires? I usually drive back home every other weekend (about 500 miles)
285s, 5" of lift is kinda too small for 35" tires. I know you have a Chevy, but a friend of mine has a Dodge with the 6.5" Fabtech and on major flexing he would rub his 315s on 8" wide wheels. 305s on 5" sounds like a rubbing combination. Plus if you drive alot your truck will like 285s vs. 305s. Get some A/Ts. I recommend BFG, as I have them on my truck and they ride well on the highway and offroad. Where you go to school? I actually go to StMU in SA.

I'd stick with the 285s. The 305s are a little too wide for only 5" of lift.
285s and 305s are very similar in size anway. They are just about the same height, but the 285s are about a 1" skinnier. But believe me, that 1" will make a big difference. You'll hardly ever rub the 285s, but you'd rub the 305s on a daily basis if you don't trim.

1. 285/305's are both 33" tires...the 305's are wider
2. I'm actually stationed at Fort Sam Houston

Thanks again for all of your Help
Do y'all think my truck will be taller than a 4x4/Z71?

My bad about the 33" vs. 35" thing.
For sure your truck will be taller than a stock 4x4/Z71. I would say about a good 2-3". The tires will lift your truck about 2-3" and the spindles/spacer will lift it 5". A stock 4x4 is only about 3-4" taller than a stock 2WD. The front of my truck is about as tall as an stock OBS 4x4, and the rear is about a 1-1.5" shorter.

Since you have a 7" rim, go with the 285's. Also, you will want to throw some 4.10 gears in that rear.

You'll be taller than a stock z71 by around 1-3", depending on how much your coils have sagged and what size block you use in the rear.

I agree somewhat. I don't think it's a necessity to re-gear with 285s. But it depends on if he has 3.42 or 3.73 gears stock. If he has 3.73s he should be fine.
But even with 3.42s, I don't think the 285s will make enough of a difference to spend $500 on new gears. Plus his truck is relatively new, so his tranny should be good for a long time.
