i am mounting OZ audio speakers into my truck right now and the problem is they won't go all the way back in. i obviously have to rotozip or dremel something out of there to make space for the extra inch i have gained. what do i need to remove?

huh?
you have 4x6s, youre trying to install them, your asking what you need to remove...what you need to remove to make the speakers fit or what?
well that depends on whats hitting...

it looks like its hittin the HVAC vents and the metal reinforcement that is between the dash and windshield. would it be safe to hack them or does anyone have a better suggestion?

you could make a spacer out of wood. mount the wood where you install your speakers, mount your speakers on that

should i just use the grilles that came with the speakers then instead of the stock ones?

It will look kinda tack. I had that problem also. I had to go with a shallower speaker. It probably wouldnt be a good idea to hack up your vents. You could do the spacer thing and make it look good but it will take some time

yea i would have to hack out a good chunk of my one hvac on the passenger side of my truck. plus on the other side of the truck looks like i might have the same problem but not as much. is there a way i can go about cutting them put a speaker in and still have some clearance to maybe patch them up somehow? i wouldn't mind a spacer just i think it might look tacky cause the rest of where the stock grille goes but i guess i can put it over the stock grille and cut it up a bit. i just want the fit and finish look good and not sticking out of place. i could fiberglass it but im not all sure about that thanks for the help.
