Confirming Odometer on aftermarket gauge cluster . . .

Hey I am looking at buying a truck with an Escalade gauge cluster installed. I have heard that the primary brain of the truck records the mileage in additon to the cluster. Is there a way to check the computer to see if the aftermarket cluster was reset properly and is accurate? Thanks much for any help.

The mileage is also stored on the PCM so any dealer could scan and verify I believe.
