My dash is cracking like a mofo. When it warms up I had planned on trying to fix the cracks using bondo. What I would do is sand the dash the best i could and then bondo the cracks and then sand again and paint. Anyone done this before? And would I need to do anything to the dash before sanding? I heard something about armor all leaves oil in the plastic that might mess up the process.

mine is the same way.....i was gonna fiberglass the underside of the crack together and then sand and put some good glazing putty over it and then sand and paint.

I thought about glassing the dash just for kicks and giggles. Ive never tried and figure that would be a good place to start. Just need a plan B is the glass wasnt to work.

yeah you could glass the top of everything....because if you glass around the edges i would imagine that evything wouldnt fit back right (like the doors wouldnt shut right if you glassed the side of the dash and the door panel where it meets)

Its just the top piece between the speaker grills that is cracked. So it will only be that one piece that would get glassed. Still gotta get myself familiar with glassing before I dive into it.

yeah mine is busted up pretty good on my 93 too.......this site dont have anything about dashes but its the same principle. its the one i used to practice on a box and i think it turned out great for the first time ever fiberglassing, cause i have seen WAY worse come out of "professional" shops.

Glass the underside where the crack is, and then fill the top part eith bondo. Just sand down the plastic on the dash then use primer filler and sand again, and paint.
well how do you plan on painting it? Are you going to try and get it smoothed and paint it with a paint gun, or spray bomb it? If you want to go the whole nine yards and smooth it out, there are several steps you need to take. either that or you can try to paint it to match the stock paint. the only drawback would be the texture. fiberglassing the whole dash is not neccessary. it all depends on where you want to go with it.
