worked on it doing it all the correct way last night till 3am. this morning be at work at 7am(SUCKS). Swaybar?

IS IT OK TO TAKE OFF THE SWAYBAR?

If not do you just grind on the area that the bag could possibly rub on then put it back on? How do you handle this situation>

We took it off so i could at least come to work this moring without running the possibliliy of blowing a bag. We diddnt have a good grider to do that with last night!

What's hitting the bag? The end link or the bar itself?

Bagged02
02-01-2005, 07:54 AM
the main concern is the bar itself. the end link is close but not rubbing

If it's the end of the bar touching you should be able to grind it since the bar is solid.

what izzy said..... grind off the overhang on the back of the bar. removing sway bars entirely is gay......... ;)

I would never pull the bar. Just grind the back of the bar so it's smoother. Make sure your lower cups won't wander and check the clearance through the full cycle....

So just grind off the area that hits the bag. Guess it wont hurt it to take out 1/2 inch of the bar. If not id rather have it back in.

Ok...just checking cause you've said it's close and it's hitting. Make SURE your cups don't wander around...if they do the bag can shift.

:word: I know the KP cups in the DJM arms have done this before.

yeah, i hate how the bottom bracket in the front dosent bolt in or instructed to weld in. I would love to be able to get the a-arms with the pre-fabbed lower bracket. think they are $299.99.

You can tack weld them into place or weld in some tabs on the LCA to more or less lock the cups in. Some combo of parts won't cause it and some will.

i'd do what these guys said and grind it a little bit. dont remove the sway bar. and despite what alot of people say, yo ucan lay out trucks without having to remove the swaybar.

all the locals say to me" why do you have your swaybar still" and I respond with "why not". They then say how you cant lay out with it....guess my truck is an exception to the rule...along with hundreds of others.

removing your sway bar is the gayest thing to do.

my first bag job the guy said i couldnt lay without the sway bar being removed. along with a bunch of other things. he tells everyone you cant lay anything out without removing the sway bar.

he came to work the other day and actually told my boss about running the reverse 4 link and said there were no problems and said i was a liar when i mentioned how ****ty they were. then told my boss he could get another inch lower by losing the swaybar.

well, as soon as the drop spindles come in, he'll lay the front of the S-10, and i lost on the reverse 4 link argument. i dropped it and just said **** it. and welded it in :soapbox:

People that argue about reverse setups being great are just best left alone...some local chick wanted a reverse 2link, but we talked her outta it. That would be a sorry setup

Sweet Tea Man

thats why i dropped it and shut up. i got tired of being told i was wrong when i knew i was right. its ok though, when my boss gets the fuel cell, i'm redoing the bars and if he asks, i'll tell him and either A) be fired or B)get an OK :D

Alot of NBS 99+'s arent runnin' a swaybar due to rubbing, or for more lift........! I think Im gunna go the ART Coolride with ART Strong Arms since I believe they have the swaybar mount built in ;)

Yep, I'm not running a sway bar due to the fact that all the way down (it would lay with it) the bag was rubbing on the sway bar end link, sway bar mount, etc... Theres no running a sway bar on my 02 with the DJM Arms, KP Cups, & 2600 Series Bags. I actually had the grind away on the lower control arm some to clearance for the bags. I'm going to build a bracket onto the Control arms to run a sway bar later on but right now, im fine without it.

Werd, You can call me what you want for not having a sway bar. On my setup you CANNOT have a sway bar without it rubbing bags. I run DJM LCA's with ART upper cups and lower brackets, i had to cut the sway bar mount off of my arms also due to rubbing.

You cant move the sway bar forward a bit?

Bagged02
02-02-2005, 04:37 PM
does it compromise anything by not having it in. is it in there for body roll

I have djm lowers and still run my swaybar. Yes you need to modify the mount and move the sway bar foward but it CAN stay. Just takes a bit of work.

OBS are fine with swaybar in stock spot? Be using spindles and cups. Or will I run into problems?

Beyond Static©

shouldnt run into any problems. I have cups and 2" spindles, and lay with the swaybar on my obs

It should have one, my 88 has one. Maybe someone removed it for some reason.

I think there was an option to not get the front bar. Some drop companies have a listing for trucks without a front bar. You should have the holes in the frame atleast to put it in.

:word: I know the KP cups in the DJM arms have done this before.

We had the same problem on my bro's '01 reg cab. We made sure we welded the lower bracket to the lower control arm so there wouldn't be any rubbing. My bro still runs the sway bar with DJM lowers and KP cups. No rubbing anymore.

then ill weld them suckers in. thanks

Just make sure you rotate the cups so they are the furthest away from the sway bar and don't forget to give yourself plenty of clearance near the frame.

I don't have any pics I just cut the mount off shortened it, and rewelded it further out. Then measured for the links and installed them.

just do a couple half inch long beads.. no need to fully weld it.. because it will be a bitch to remove if you ever need to, and it would be a waste of wire/gas...

just a heads up. incase you were planing on fully welding it....

thanks. i looked at it today. pass side bottom mount is in how it should the driver side shifted down towards the rotor/tire about 1/2 inch. I dont like how it looks, but its not rubbing or anything. Would hate to be on my way to work tomorrow and it slide out all the way? do you think it could? Welll anyways ill fit it the weekend and the front should be FINALLy done correctly like i should of done it in the first place! Gotta learn from your OWN mistakes. thanks guys,
