View Full Version : Exhaust for the Tahoe

I plan to run an x-pipe and dual 12" Dynomax Bullets on my 99 Tahoe, but I am really wondering about what size pipe to run. I would rather go with 2.5" pipe because it is cheaper to run the 2.5" mufflers and x-pipe, and I love how deep the pipe sounds. Could I run the 2.5" pipe without losing low end torque since I do plan to have the X-pipe. I need to know because I plan to order in the next day or two. Thanks a ton guys.

I ran 2- 40 series flows on my 97 Z71 with the vortec 5.7 and ran 2.5 in. pipe and had no issues. I didn't have a h or x pipe either, but I do recommend it.

should sound awesome when it's done:rocking:

Shouldn't notice any significant performance difference between dumping the exhaust after the muffler vs. running it out to tips.

You shouldn't have to. They should be used to hearing every valve rattle in a dodge. :homo:

As for the question, I think the 2.5" will give you a deeper tone and less crackly.

I believe that is because you have turndowns man. I know that laws has no real pops and crackles and I believe it is because he has turndowns as well. I want to get tips but I can't find any that are 4" stainless with 2.5" inlets

so what about just rinning the cats with no muffler on a 99 tahoe?
with dual pipes
too loud for the wifey or what?

Why run no muffler when u can get just as loud but with a better tone for cheap with bullets :)
