View Full Version : Anyone in upstate New York jiff29595 03-27-2005, 03:54 PM In Upstate Ny we have a few spots to go wheelin mostly powerlines but i was wondering if anyone out there knows of a good spot ibthumpin 03-27-2005, 05:57 PM where abouts are you? The local places I used to pound when younger have all grown in or have been gated off. Used to be alot of places to go, but not anymore. NYmudbogger 03-28-2005, 08:44 AM How far are you from Saratoga? I have some places left to go boggin if the drives not to far. jiff29595 03-29-2005, 08:55 PM i'm located in Averill Park its about 45-60 min from saratoga If your not too sure where ap is i'm real close to east greenbush ibthumpin 03-30-2005, 08:27 PM basically Albany then... :D NYmudbogger 03-30-2005, 08:45 PM I'll be in touch sometime in mid april or may. Where i usually go is up in the mountains and the snow and ice hangs on there for a few weeks to a month longer then it does here. I went up in the fall and the state sold the lower end of the trail to a building company. It's still listed on maps as a " offroad jeep trail " something along them lines so technically they cant block the trail. The builders been blocking the trail off but i dont let there cables stop me. 5-6 monthes has past since i last been up there so who knows what its like now but when i do go up there i'll let you know the condition of this trail. If this trail is blocked off I have some alternative trails but this is a decent offroad trail. I never clocked it but i would say its quite a few miles long and takes about 20-30 minutes to take it. You wont be dissapointed. jiff29595 03-30-2005, 09:01 PM Alright if you could give me a little notice i'd like to meet up with you to go by then i should have a new tranny and if my tax return allows it tires too right now my 35's are worn but i'm up for it are the trails real tight? This is my daily driver so i try to go in open areas to stay away from deep scratches but if it happends it happends. and yeah i'm about 10 min from albany how far away would those trails be from me? NYmudbogger 03-31-2005, 03:48 PM Alright if you could give me a little notice i'd like to meet up with you to go by then i should have a new tranny and if my tax return allows it tires too right now my 35's are worn but i'm up for it are the trails real tight? There not to tight of trails with all the wheelin they see the branches are back far enough to where you might get an occasional branch hitting the truck. Its nothing like you see on tv as far as offroading trails but still a good time. I'm 2 minutes off exit 14 on northway and the trails are 15 minutes from my place. If you like these trails we can take another trail sometime. Let me warn you ahead of time... its about a 6 hour "hardcore" bog one way then hit the pavement and head home. When i mean harcore i mean climbing very steep rocky slopes and straddling big rocks and tight turns... A stock chevy made it most of the way till it hit a very steep slope and lost 4wheel drive so your truck with 35's shouldnt have to much trouble. One thing at a time though :D jiff29595 03-31-2005, 04:54 PM that sounds nuts but i definatly was to meet up to go wheelin that trail by your house sounds like my kind of wheeling as for the other trail i'll have to see about how the truck withstands the first trail, I sent my tranny away today and it should beback in my truck by tuesday i'll let you know when im up and running and maybe i can get you out to some trails out here. snowed500 04-08-2005, 05:09 PM Hey boys gotta jump in here, i live in Menands (3mls north of Albany) my buddy from Glens Falls and I would definitely be intrested in finding out where this place is if ya don't mind. If he didnt bend the wheel so bad i could have driven it home. When its back in commision i'll do a post so we can do some boggin. With all the rain we have recieved and due to get it, it will be some good boggin and only gonna get better. Good luck finding a tranny Jiff! Yukoneer 04-24-2005, 01:26 PM I'm out for a while sorry guys i'd love to go wheelin but i smoked my tranny again so if anyone knows of where i can get another one fairly cheep that is good let me know Its a 95 with a 4l60e if you're a few hours away from Harry's U Pull It junkyard (hazelton, pa), everything is under $100 (including trannies). www.wegotused.com jiff29595 04-28-2005, 08:46 AM Thanks for the tip i'm going to pull my trany out and open it up before i go looking for a new tranny because i talk to a few shops and almost everyone of them said that the tranny overheated so i might need an external cooler NYmudbogger 04-28-2005, 12:55 PM Thanks for the tip i'm going to pull my trany out and open it up before i go looking for a new tranny because i talk to a few shops and almost everyone of them said that the tranny overheated so i might need an external cooler I overheated my old 700r4 last year on the highway. I had the tranny flushed and new filter put in it and put another 500 miles before putting a new 700r4 in with a shift kit and bigger bands to replace it before something happen to old one. I do have an external cooler on my tranny and temp gauge to. It runs anywhere from 150-210 depending on whether or not im in the city or offroading. NYmudbogger 05-09-2005, 07:04 PM My truck will be back to 100% later this week minus 1 bogger and 1 wheel but the 35's will do for now.... Any of you NY guys who posted on here and want to hook up for a bog this weekend or any weekend coming up drop me a PM so i can contact you threw your FSC name, email or give me a phone number to call you at.
