Do the solid axle kits work on 2wds? The frames look the same. Im fairly confident it is the same but if anyone else has done this let me know. I want to avoid any wrong turns. I plan on just making it big enough for 35" load rated Mud tires (skinny ones)(its a dually you know). I have to pull my beast with it still. 35"s should be great with my 6.5turbo diesel and 4.56 gears! Any advice is welcome!!!:dunce:

no clue, my guess would be yes too, but sounds like a plan!

Sure, it can be done, but it will probably be a PITA. You gotta swap in a transfer case, too.

go to the dealer a "test drive" one that is a 4x4 and size it up to get an idea of what it will take

 What does driving a 4x4 one have to do with anything? I own a 97 C3500 and I want to use a solid axle conversion kit to make it a 4x4. I know they bolt up to the 4x4 (K3500) but will they work on a 2wd (C3500). I am going to use a divorced transfercase and a dana 60 front with crossover steering hooked to the stock steering box. Should look good when its done. I will have it done before winter.:D

Alot of trucks that are SFA are done that way. Kirk Dabney (Overkill Monster Truck) builds a lot of SFA trucks and he starts out many of them as 2 wheels drives. It can be done, (I am not sure if it is any easier/cheaper) but their is less stuff to rip off. If you are going for an all custom setup, what does it matter then? I say go for it.:D

72zebra,
Sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you plan to do. Since you already have a plan-of-action, it shouldnt be anymore difficult than converting a 4x4 to SFA. The frames are the same, so it shouldnt be any different.
