View Full Version : clear coated wheels. rattlznake 04-28-2002, 10:54 PM I still have the stock wheels on the Hoe. and i think the clear has some imperfections in em. is there any way to get them looking nice again? wolfdog 05-27-2002, 02:57 PM try this. it's a wheel reconditioning kit.:D http://www.caswellplating.com/nsindex.htm rattlznake 05-27-2002, 04:27 PM which kit is it? do you think it would work? wolfdog 05-27-2002, 05:06 PM hear are some more links for ya to give you a better selection. i have used the caswell wheel polishing kit & yes it works great. the only thing is, for best results, you should dismount the tire from the wheel. (kinda pricey too) basicly, you remove the clear coat them through a couple of steps you polish the wheel. another thing is if you don't want an almost chrome look, just strip the c-coat then clean the wheel & do a new c-coat. http://store.yahoo.com/tolae/wheelmotpolk.html http://www.buffnstuff.com/polishing.htm http://www.buffingwheels.com/ you might pm 02Silverado, he is a detailer. maybe he can help more :) Badassilverado1 05-27-2002, 07:13 PM Just buy new rims :D :head: rattlznake 05-28-2002, 08:48 AM well how close to chrome is it?i dont like the look of chromed stock wheels. i may just have to remove thew clear and re-clear them. i dont want to buy new wheels, i like the look of "brand new looking" stockers, untill i can get new wheels and tires. wolfdog 05-28-2002, 08:04 PM i would say very close depending on how much you polish. if you like the "new stock" look, (i'm not opposed to it either :) ) just strip the clear coat, clean the wheel & reapply a new c-coat. if you do that, you could probably just by the the remover and clear coat. that would save you a lot of coin.:D rattlznake 05-29-2002, 01:20 PM yea. the centercaps look fine. i may clean em up and throw some clear on just to be sure they match. but i guess i will have to find some wheels and tires to roll on during the process. cause this is a definate wheel- off job. wolfdog 05-29-2002, 03:25 PM what i did was get some cheap steelies to roll while doing this. & yes, this is definatly a wheel-off project. good luck:D KLEEN KUT 06-27-2002, 11:45 PM Originally posted by rattlznake i like the look of "brand new looking" stockers, untill i can get new wheels and tires. i think those are the finest wheels GM has produced for trucks. i would probably keep the wheels and put 315's. nice looking hoe :D Siyé WannaHaveAChevy 07-08-2002, 12:15 AM Originally posted by Badassilverado Just buy new rims :D :head: Hahaha! I was going to do that for my Tacoma 4x4. Them suckers are $330 a wheel! They are the alluminum alloy wheels that come on the 97 tacoma 4x4. Oh, BTW, they are for sale. vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
