My first mod, and first item bought off the internet. Yeah, those taillights sucked:LOL:

Now we're getting somewhere... got the windows tinted, keyless entry, clear corners, billet bowtie...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/thecodeman/My%20truck/DCP_0052.jpg

Decided it was time to drop it some time later.. 0/3, because I didnt know which hole to use on the shackles:D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/thecodeman/My%20truck/drop003.jpg

Ah... much better! Limo tint, 3/4 drop with a debadge and colormatched mirrors/handles. I wish I would have kept it like this :(

Then I swapped out the bed for a fleetside so I could put the tanks in the bed when I eventually bagged it. Yeah, that happened:LOL:

Rollpan and tailgate handle shave...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/thecodeman/My%20truck/tailgateshave071.jpg

Then it occoured to me that it wasnt quite low enough. So, I lowered it some more:D

Well, almost.........:bawl:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/thecodeman/wreck/DSCN2036.jpg

On the way to school in waco monday morning, october 25th 2004, just 4 months after being painted, I hydroplaned on I35 southbound in hillsboro going 60mph and hit the concrete barrier dividing the highway.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/thecodeman/wreck/DSCN2040.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/thecodeman/wreck/DSCN2041.jpg

As you can imagine, I wasnt the happiest camper. Also, I had sold my wheels and bedlid in july in hopes of using the money for bags... well between this wreck and rolling into a guy at 5mph and denting his dudge stratus or whatever and having to fix that :whyme: bags were on the back burner.

thecodeman
07-25-2005, 12:20 AM
It was pretty much totalled.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/thecodeman/My%20truck/clip.jpg

But Mark here at FSC - owner of the site - hooked me up with some sweet GM parts to make it all better:rocking:

More recently, around march 2005, despite making zero progress on bodywork since november of 2004 :banghead: parts slowly started to come together for bags with big help from Joe (outlawcrewcab - www.baggedanddragged.com)

Better, but the ride with Slam RS72 bags over the axle isnt nice - at all. Now, I'm installing a cantilever attachment for the 4 link, a custom watts link to replace the noisy panhard bar, and fabricating the gas tank crossmember to raise the gas tank. As of tonight, there's no bed, no bags, no tanks, no bumper still. Optima yellow top only lasted 3 months with my alarm and not driving it anywhere:crazy: More goodies are finally here though... like the 59" Custom Classic flush mount LED :rocking: I'll have pics up this week when the crossmember goes back in.

... I wish I would have kept it like this

I've had feelings like that before. That's why I wish I had the money to buy a nice reg cab for a driver and keep it simple. Bolt-ons only. 4/6 drop, 17s, tint, billet, clears...

thecodeman

How much did Brian at Intro charge you for the Matrix's and tires?? I'm really wanting to get a set of intros with tires, and need to know exactly how long I'm gonna have to work OT to do it. lol Nah, but I do need to get an idea of how much I'll be lookin at. I will have 1500 laying around when I sell my current wheels and tires, so that is a good start. I plan on running a 245/40 on them, because I won't be getting these wheels and tires put on my truck until I have it bagged (couple years, best guess). Anyway, any information would be great. Thanks

$1500 will get you a deposit on them. That's about 65% of the cost of my wheels. The tires werent included in my purchase.

Sorry guys, been busy working 11 hour days. Last night, truck work resulted in a busted rear brake line:( I finally decided on tires - Goodyear Eagle HP Ultra Plus 255/35/20 and 295/40/20. I just dont have the cash for anything else and I can steal these basically for below $350 for four:rocking: This sunday should bring some driveability, that is if Outlawcrewcab sends the house I bought :cussing:

Ah, thats the F1 Supercar... the F1 GS is a different tire :D Thanks Izz. However, none of those sizes will work with my rear wheels... 10" wide. :(
I'm gonna run a 10" wide wheel too and will be running a 275/40/20 and 295/45/20.

Sorry Code I got my tires mixed up, in the F1 Supercar there is a 255-45-20 and a 245-40-20

It's the eagle ultra hp's that there is a 255/35/20 and a 295-40-20. Those would be nice on the rear, fronts are your standard 35 series tires, these are the tires I run and I like them, they seem to wear pretty even and good.

Yeah I had the 255/35/20 in eagle HP ultra plus on my last set of intros. they were great tires, but bryan thinks i might have trouble fitting the 295/40/20 in the back, it may be close to my canti/4link bars.

245/40/18. :read: She's got a few bends in both front wheels. I'm gonna probably step her up to a 245/45/18 and a 295/45/18 out back. I'll make sure it lays out when it's bagged so we can quit worrying about bending the wheels.

I've contemplated the 275/45 up front on mine but it's just gonna be too big. Out back I'll stay with the 295/45 so I can tow too.

McFly has them up front with his 4" drop and I think they look great. The problem is they aren't wide enough for a 10" wide wheel, atleast the recommended size is up to 9.5"

That would work fine for me though, I'm only running 8.5" like you in front. So I guess I could run the 420s in 255/45/20 or the Hankook 275/45/20, the nittos being the smaller overall of the two. 29.1 vs 29.8" which i guess .7 of an inch isnt really a big deal. but you say the 275/45 looks too big on your 4" drop, i imagine it would be huge on bags.

Yeah it should be fine up front it's just the back wheel that you'd have a problem fitting that tire on. They next size up is a 265/50/20.

You're not dreaming. Since 2005 when I last worked on it really, I've bought a house in 05, got married in 06, had two job changes, and the shop that I used to be able to have access to I can no longer co-ordinate my schedule with.

Now I have the opportunity to not only finish it, but I believe it's in capable hands to have some subtle mods done that will really make the truck.

1badgmc has been kind enough to offer to keep me updated with pictures, so hopefully we will start to see some real progress over the next few weeks.

solid black, with limo tint all around. Cant decide on the clear corner lenses or the GM ambers. And the taillights would be the stock-looking ones with LEDs... like RailinChevy's. Probably black out the GMC on the denali grille, and leave the OEM insert.

Yeah just got home not too long ago, it made it back ok. Got a lot of work still but was given an ultimatum to have it 100% done by Feb 28 (baby's due date) or to be forced to sell it...

...ok not quite but I pretty much should forget if not done by then.

So I'm making my list...

LMC's checking it twice...

Going to get it inspected soon. Shout out to the three state troopers, decatur policeman, grand prairie policeman, and the fake cop car parked on the side of the road for not pulling me over on the trip home.

Will post up with progress as it should be more frequent now and the search for the bodyshop continues. It will have to be in North Texas though, it kills me not to be able to check in on it. Jason would probably appreciate being left alone too.

Amusing thing happened on the way home... didnt have the key for the locking gas cap. had to break it off to put gas in it to make it the rest of the way home, lol.

Made some progress this weekend, I changed the oil and filter and washed the truck.

I think the trouble code I had back in Feb or so with cylinder #3 misfire was a stuck lifter (among other things?) that seems to have worked itself out. I had a check engine light still when I got it back from bob's but it definately ran better. Plugging in the scan tool told me it was a problem with the MAF... after checking the wires and kind of screwing with it i finally saw one of the pins on the sensor was jacked and bent. I carefully straightened it out and plugged it back in and I have 0 trouble codes now :head: I plan to take it to the stereo shop this week to get the gremlins worked out and some wiring cleaned up... (maybe a stereo installed too? I pulled everything out when doing the interior so no speakers no cd player nothing. Also need to hook up door poppers and wire up the fog lamps for the gmc bumper) I've got a short/bad ground with my taillamps and need to bleed the brakes. After that, it's time for the first inspection in like 4 years :D I can't wait to drive this thing. I dont know what happened to my swaybar - if bob has it he can keep it and I'll get a bigger one - but I definately want one on there. Maybe new shocks. It rides completely different without one.

Still looking for a bodyshop...

Well tonight I did some work.

Got the hardware on for the fuel door, so that's finished. Nice to actually be able to fuel up now.

Put the tailgate bumpers on, hood bumpers.

Got all the correct grille mounting hardware, so it actually fits decent for aftermarket. Will have to try to get my GM Escalade grille working with the billet insert and put it on - not sure how this aftermarket Denali grill will look.

Was going to swap out the broken drivers side mirror for the new one, but im not a contortionist and cant find anything 10MM that will fit those forsaken screws, so put that off.

Ah, the billet rear view mirror. Hmm. Doest fit the stock glass adapter thing. No big deal, I'll give it a couple taps to see if it comes off.....

.......SKKKKKKKKKT. Shattered windshield, cracks in all directions from the stupid metal mount thingy. I needed to replace the back glass (it's pitted) but was going to wait until later. Now I will have to get a windshield too. Might as well make sure that my other windows are all good, and all the hardware is correct and have the glass man out once. To get factory tint or not...

To be continued...

For future reference.

If you heat the metal mount with a soldering iron to where it is fairly warm then put an ice cube on the outside of the windshield over the mount it will 99% of the time pop right off.
