Can I save this Paint?

ok, well this was originally my dad's truck...he's owned it since late 99, and now its shown that he hasn't cared at all for it :cussing: it has been used as a truck, and shows. can i get fine scratches out of it? there are 2 scratches i know i cannot remove without repainting...but i just want a nice glossy finish over the rest of it...but there are swirles and fine scratches from brush and plants all over it...and pushing cargo over the edge of the bed...basically the paint looks like trash In My Humble Opinion...

what compounds can i use on it? If i use a buffer, can i revive this stuff? or should i just bite the bullet and have it repainted? I really do not want to go that route, as i could spend that money on rims :D but...

what methods can i use to revive this paint? i understand it'll never look new again, but can i save it? anybody have some paint saving ideas ? :naughty:

Light scratches you will be able to buff out w/ cutting compound and some Meguars scratch-X. Followed by some wax. The deeper stuff will always be there.....if you want a temp. solution get the color wax stuff to fill in the scratches.

As a detailer I tell my customers if you can put you finger nail in the scratch them it will not come out, it would have to be repainted or touched up. I would recommend having a mobile detailer come to you house or office and detail it for you. You can have the exterior looking awesome and at the most it should cost is $150. Form what it sounds like there is no reason you need to repaint it.:D

thanks for the quick replys...i figure i can either try to do it myself first, and if that fails...just have it detailed, then work on getting the swirles out that their buffers will leave behind :D thanks for the 3m page, that was some good info.

can't wait to get my Zaino on the paint once the surface is ready for it :smokin:
