Or whatever the Hell those people say! :gay:
2.5 hours, no cuts or bruises, although there WAS plenty of off-color language! :cussing:
The sound is awesome, at least from inside the cab. Throttle response picked up immediately (Seat-of-Pants.)
Install was pretty easy with a Sawzall, some dishsoap, and a ratchet with 2 socket sizes. :dunce:
This is the dual sideswept stainless catback for the 2500 HD 8100. :smokin:
Oh, better go change my signature now! :rocking:
This was a more than worthwhile mod!

cool!!:smokin:
I just put the same setup on my truck (sierra with the 5.3). Very easy installation, well except for the stripped out nut at the headpipe flange - my fault, too much power with the impact!...lol. Had to cut it, press out the stud and use a bolt and nut.
I was very impressed with the fit/finish of the kit. The stainless tips are very nice and clean looking with thier built in clamps. All the welds of the muffler are very smooth and uniform.
I did kind of expect alittle more sound out of it - I know it will change a bit once I put some miles on it. It has a very pleasing sound, not obnoxious, but real mellow - i have yet to really get on it (still putting the truck back together). I bet the 8.1 sounds alot different

ibthumpin,
I have a few questions for you. :read:
1. Did you notice a tinny sound at 1800-2200 RPM? :to:
2. If so, have you located the source?
3. Did you end up welding anything together to eliminate this?
Thanks for your initial reply; it's good to know I'm not the only one out there with wood over a new exhaust system! :D

Hey Doug - I saw your other post asking Henry the same things about his Gibson. I haven't experienced what you are describing with my system. Maybe you could get under the truck and have somebody (that you trust, lol) jazz it up so you could try to pinpiont it.
I have had mufflers make what I would call a "tinny" sound when the case of the muffler would start popping at certain RPM's (like when you slightly dent a soda can and pop it back out - the muffler had a deeper "popping" sound than the soda can obviously). I could actually see it happening - and decided that an interanal baffel had come loose. In both of these cases, the mufflers were oval type - one was an OEM on my gf's sunfire and the other was a cheapo turbo muffler on my 460 f-150.
At any rate I think I'd call up Gibson and tell 'em about it - maybe they can fix you up.
'scuse me, I gotta go polish my pipe.........no really, the one on my truck............................:D

Do yall like the exhaust or is a Flowmaster setup better sounding? I have Flows on the truck now but I was wondering if I should put a Gibson on the new truck?
