Alright fellas, I have had my system installed nearly a month now and while I am very pleased with the results, I am stumped on why I am unable to get control of the sub through the HU. I have all three RCA's plumbed from the HU to the Amp (Alpine MRV-F450). Amp is set to 5 channel operation per the manual. Channels 1/2 are in use for the components up front, channels 3/4 reserved for Mid drivers yet to be installed and channel 5 is on the Sub.
The HU (Alpine CDA-9847) is set to Subwoofer on and Sys2 according to the manual.
Any Alpine owners, past or present, have any ideas ?
Thanks !

Does the unit do anything when you turn the sub control up or down?

If i remember correctly try holding the eject button down for like 10 sec that should turn the sub output on.

MY alpine does the same thing. You can turn the bass up to any level for sub on h/u and it makes no diff......... but i'm told thats cause i have amps on it ? lol i dunno

bodydrop - no, however the hu is setup per the manual for independent control of the subwoofer via the hu...
soundstream21 - What model do you have ? According the the owners manual for mine, the eject button works to, well, eject. nothing more...
nebraskaz71 - Thanks for the input. Good to know I am not the only one out there with this problem.

Make sure the amplifier that is giving power to the subwoofer has it's RCA's hooked into the Sub-W set of pre-outs on the rear of the deck.
I had a similar problem when another shop installed my 7894. I could never adjust the bass with the Sub-W option. Then I re-installed in another vehicle, hooked the sub amp RCA's up to the Sub-W preouts and it was all good.
I can just press in my volume knob until my options are at Sub-W and adjust all the way up to 15.
My buddy's Alpine is the same way. I think he has the 9855 or somethign like that. I'm not sure, but I know it's the step up from my 7894 and one year newer.
