I am going to be installing the drop kit on my 2001 Tahoe this weekend and I need a torsion bar tool to unload the bars so I can install the spindles. Anyone know of a place that stocks the torsion bar tool? I checked AutoZone's website, and they don't seem to carry the tool in thier loan a tool program. Anyone on here have the tool they want to ship me and I'll pay shipping both ways and a little extra for rent?? Thanks for any help

I had no luck finding one anywhere without buying one when I did my ball joints.
I ended up not using one though, I just jacked up the truck by the lower a-arm, put the a-arms on jack stands, and then uncranked the bars (but not all the way). There was enough room to work that I could do my balljoints, and I would think replacing the spindles would be possible as well.

I remember finding mine online at the tool warehouse.com or something like that. Kinda pricey for around $70.00 or so. I just wanted to be better safe than sorry. I do know of others that used jaw pullers though. Good luck.

Oh yeah, up in Fresno try Manny, Mo & Jacks (Pep Boys) or the smaller specialty auto parts houses.

We used a ball joint press to unload mine. That can be rented from auto zone.

Kent-Moore makes the torsion bar unloader, and they are often sold on ebay. About a hundred bucks I recall. What I did the last time is use a large c-clamp and cut the swivel part off the threaded end. That left a ball end which fit perfectly into the recess in the torsion bar lever.

Use the balljoint press man. Was the safest way I saw when we did my suspenion lift and definately made things easier.
