well we worked 3 20hr days this weekend in the booth and heres what i have to show. dont have a way to post better pics than to attach individualy..

Shaved/Bodywork (pre-this weekend)
Upper Cab Seams, 3rd Brake Light, Door handles, Gate Handle, Stake Pockets, Holes in OEM Caddy fenders, All fender lips rolled to the extreme with edge cut down to 3/8" first (very nice) Molded CC roll pan, stock tails, Frenched Caddy Deville tails,

Paint;
re-shot entire truck/jams Black, "Wiste" (my body guy) did a crazy job on the details/graphics. Two-Tone Tribal marbelized "Blood Red" overlapped by a tribal "Gun-Metal" graphic (non-marbelized) then topped with light white airbrushing over the tops of graphics with awesome pins stripeing, red on the two tone and orange on the tribal graphic. ALL CARRIED IN THROUGH THE JAMS!.

this was a nightmare tapeing.. jsut seemed to take forever but "SPARKS" was the drink of choice to keep us going. I'm very  with the results, check it out.. still need to spray the tonneau, hood, grill, bumper, and small misc, got the bulk stuff done, rest can be done in a night..

thanks guys/gals... had to take last night off, got my front end parts all here now so i just gotta get the extra stuff shot asap.. cutting and buffing this is gonna suck but ohh i cant wait!

Wiste's thinking of doin some huge mural, joker, skull, sumpin airbrushed on the tonneau, when the truck is showed the tonneau will always be up/open so should i have it done so you can see it from the front??

I have to agree with lowryder99, I really wouldn't think a mural would look good. I'm not to fond of them myself. I would put some graphics up on the cover using the same colors you have already. Your truck is so badda** I would hate to see a cartoon on there.

That's what I wanted to say but I had a meeting to bounce to so I had to let "no" suffice

You guys worked too hard to make a difficult paint job look so clean, don't bung it up.

as far as a mural thats not really what i was thinking.. more like some large tribals (like the one on the gate) and some hidden skulls in it.. jsut sumpin to show off his skills ..

thanks again for the comments, it just makes all the months of insane work pay off.

jeremy... that hood is gonna look really good. you'll have to give me a shout when you get back in the area..

I spent about 10hrs 2nite (after a full work day) DA'n with 1200 then 1500 and wet sanding any garbage out.. looks really good. my origional guy who was gonna buff it for me seems to be bailing on me :-( so im kinda screwed right there.. i havnt ever buffed and i dont want to learn on this one.. my body guy is soo overworked right now he would really rather have me find someone to do it, hes been werking jsut as many hrs as i have plus his other jobs so he needs a break.. i'll get sumpin figured out...

I'll defiantly let ya know when i get back. IF you have the weekend of july 21-23rd off. I'll be showing my escalade( Sporting some new rims and Hopefully a blower by then) At CarCraft at the state fair grounds in St.Paul

Too bad I don't come home earlier i'd buff the truck for ya, but i'm sure you don't want to wait that long.

well i m still trying to figure this all out.. i think wiste and i are jsut goin to do it, going to put us a day behind but ohh well.. nutting like crunch time b4 a show!! smoothing my oem wiper cowl now.. goin really good actually.. scuffed it with a rolock 36 grit 2" disk on my die grinder, (took a long time to get all the surfaces in the grooves) and using kitty hair, sticking really really good. taking a break b4 i use a lil filler to get it flat, i epoxyed the two end pieces to the main one then duraglassed (kitty hair) it all. working good, used 1 1/2 qts of it though, gonna be heavy, but way better than the POS street scene cowl i bought

man i wish you guys were closer to help buff... thinking were gonna ahve to do it tommorrow night or fri b4 the clear gets tooo hard

i thought you said it was already sanded

if it is, and its just been sitting there sanded smooth, just take some 2000 or something and smooth it over very lightly before you turn the buffer loose on it.

7-8 aint all that bad......... basic front fender flames are 3+grand here and i got a quote of almost 10grand to repaint truck stock color with no body work at the shop that everyone recommends locally lol

daves97
06-09-2006, 11:29 AM
I'm just guessing but I was quoted $5500-$6500 to repaint mine black so it could be as much as $10000

Kruznlow69
06-09-2006, 08:59 PM
well if i had a shop do mine i would faint. litterally, just fall over and go pale. i have a rider on my insurance for the extras (bodywork/mods, paint, and suspension) for twice your higher #.. i have more hours into this truck than most can imagine, unless you have built/modded something like this.. soo difficult but now its all worth it! i'm just soo happy  finally i did it!

looks sick man! You better roll out to car craft man. I just got done lifting my Escalade with a few more thigns it'll be on the road. then i have to wait for my damn rims to come.

Holy Sh!t...that looks BadAzz. Im glad you went with Tribal and not Flames for the graphics

as far as $$ for paint goes. It all depends on where you live.

If you live in Bum Freak Egypt like Kentucky or Kansas, your going to pay up the Azz. If you live in a competitive town with shops at every corner like Los Angeles or???...you are more then likely to pay somewhere near 4-5 Gs . A few Grand less then the rest of the world would pay

When I repainted my Bagged astro a few years ago,I laterally got 4 estimates from shops no more then 4 miles from each other.
