I am ready to buy but the damn prices are outrageous! I looked at a brand new crew cab 4x4 and the salesman wouldnt budge past $40,000.... The sticker price was 43

You must be buying new I take it. I picked my d-max up for $26,500 used 2002 LS leather short bed ext. cab 4x4 with 45,000 miles mid-last year (haggled for 5hrs down from $29,995). I can't buy new, like everyone else say's, the moment you drive it off the lot you just throw away $10,000. Personally, I figure 45,000mi is nothing on a diesel.

yeah Im talkin new. I've always bought used and just want something new, especially the LBZ! Im looking at crew cab 4x4's short beds.. I would buy used if it was a year or two old low miles and a lift.. But I really like that LBZ I just test drove one and daaaaaamn...

Don't quote me on this, but the guy I bought my edge juice said that the 07 d-max has something in the tranny to where if it goes over like 700 ft/lb (say if you installed a chip)would cause it to shut down. If someone else knows different let me know. Like I said, it's just hear say.

Jeez, out here they'd laugh you off the lot if a 23 year old was looking at a 45k+ vehilce. I've havent seen a new D-max/ally/crew/4x4 for under 45k in my area.

You're not going to find much haggling on the price of the diesels - dealers know they sell near sticker.

It is called Limp mode. It is to save the tranny, but once you have limped it, it gets easier and easier each time there after to limp it. And it does not apply to only the '07, all the allison transmission from previous years have it.

some of U guys are catchin awesome deals. I've looked at a few
D-max's out here and, unless it has at least 100k on it you can't touch it for less than 25-27 grand.I't got me lookin at an 8.1 CCSB right now cause it is soo much cheper, and it has all the luxuries.

ibthumpin is right, maybe it's a New York thing, I'm 20 with cash and perfect credit and if I go into a dealership they don't even want to talk to me. Last time I went to a dealership, I told him what I was looking for and he was like "so money is no object". needless to say I didn't buy a truck from him. in fact I've yet to buy a truck, but am really considering the
8.1 Ally.crewcab cause its such a good price

ibthumpin is right, it is very hard to talk a dealer down on a diesel. But, screw'em I'd start at $44,000, let them laugh, you can always come up on your offer! If they don't come down as much as you want, buy a std dmax with the trim package you want, the $8 to 9,000 difference can by what you want and then some.:rocking:

Yeah I was thinkin about startin at 44 or 45, I wont go any higher than 47!! that would be a waste of beer money! BTW do they offer a leveling kit for the HD's? If I buy stock then I will probably level it out, rims/tires, and throw in some performance goodies for now.

Yeah, you can get some torsion bar key's (leveling kit) pretty cheap or you can just crank the t-bars to level as well. What size skins are you going to run?

I would like to run 31's to 33's... thornbirds. the last two trucks that I have had I cranked the t-bars out and it totally made my truck ride like $hit not to mention how often I had to rotate my tires! I guess the whole point of me buying new is I want to be able to have something to take care of and gradually build to my own standards. My previous trucks were great and all but I always did things half assed.. like not mounting my stereo right, sloppy wiring, etc.. I want to be able to have something fresh to work with

I hear what your sayin', I am currently running 285/75R16 Nitto's which is equal to a 32/11.5R15 on stock wheels. You should be able to run the 285's without adjustment to the t-bars, even if you use a 16X8 rim. I have read on a thread that t-bar adjustments won't affect the ride unless you crank them up all the way, if cranked to the max it rides like sh!t.

Call around. You can do much better on a loaded D-max. There are dealers that will deal on them. There are dealers around that have 15-20 of them on the lot and are willing to let them go.

I just did a couple of months of shopping so I have some experience on this truck. Here's what I got.

06' GMC D-max/Allison, 4x4 CC/SB SLT 4sa Onstsr/XM, Tow, skids, etc
Sticker $46880
I paid $41,500 out the door.

Find a dealer that will accept a GMSD on one. Find a GM employee that will offer you one of their 2 GMSD #'s that they get each month.

GMSD is $37k and change, plus Tax/T/L minus the current GM rebates = $41500 out the door.

At least knowing that this $$$ is possible, it should give you room to negotiate.

Btw, once I got 2 dealers working against each other, they even offered to go into their holdback to steal me away from the dealer I was buying from at GMSD.

Go to thedieselplace.com, hit the new vehicle forum and do some homework.

i have a friend that picked up an 04 duramax loaded with everything but the DVD from Alberta, Canada for about 25k (cnd funds) it has about 90,000 miles on it but that's nothing for a diesel motor they'll run way past 500,000, my advice would be to check out the 2500HD's in Alberta, they're a dime a dozen out there cuz of the rig workers, good luck!

I payed 24900 from a private seller back in Feb. It had 62k on it. It just has the LS trim package, but it's Black, CC, and 4x4. I wish I would have bought this thing a long time ago! I made it to Nashville from St. Louis on 3/4 tank. My 6.0 HD wouldn't get 3/4 of the trip without having to fill up. I got right at 20 mpg at 75 mph.

I got my 2006 GMC CC D/A in the SLE1 trim w/tow pack, aluminum wheels, power mirrors, power seat ++ all for just about $40k delivered to me in the middle of the Pacific ocean. Got it from Idaho and they took care of all the trucking and shipping.

Cost was below invoice due to the discounts and rebates. Let me know if you want the dealers name and sales guy.

I ended up getting a call from my dealer the thursday before Memorial day weekend. She knew I had been looking for the LBZ engine. I never thought I would see one this early but some guy traded it in with 7,000 miles. No fifth wheel and it was the color I wanted. I ended up making an unexpected purchase that Saturday. Man, what a great truck. The price listed was $38,900, but between dinking with the interest rate and what they gave me for trade in for my 1500HD, who knows what the actual payment was. I am happy with my monthly payments.

I have been looking for about 4-5 mos. Is what brought me to this site. I nearly broke down and bought a half ton last week. I got to the finance guy and we got into an argument. I told him to F off, there are a million trucks out there. Even though I was $2500 under wholesale BB. Matter of principle if you knew the story. Then, this week, a friend of a friend thing came through w/ an 06 17k mi. LT package DMax, for 30,375. Will be more after TT&License. Eveything checks out. Sometimes it pays to be patient. I put feelers out to everyone I knew, then this one was found at an auction. Get it on Wednesday...can't wait.

'06 Duramax, LT3 package fully loaded, dealer installed Nerf bars and exchanged standard mirrors to power towing mirror set + 5 yr/100000 mile extended warranty for $41,800. Sticker was $46,100. Had I not been out of town earlier in the month I would have gotten the same deal AND 0% 72 month financing. As it is I got 2.9% but that equals $3600 in interest over the term of the loan.

paid $22k for mine, 03 sierra crew cab SLE with custom 2 tone paint and brand new 285 BFG AT's and 85K miles, also, truck was owned by a guy that owned a body shop (thats who painted it) then by the dealer that i bought it from so the truck was never used to pull anything bigger than a snowmobile trailer and the guy i bought it from just put a plow on it last november and with the mild winter we had in the northeast, only plowed his small dealership 2 times. funny how i came to get this truck too: i had been looking hard for a diesel and finally ruled out the fords after driving a dmax, then i found one for like $23k in connecticut, so i was all ready to drive out there on a thursday from western NY when the dealer calls me on wednesday on lunch and says there was a mix up and the truck had already been sold before i put a deposit on it yada yada yada, so i call him a liar and tell him where to stick his truck, and as pissed as i was, got back on autotrader and found this truck in new hampshire, called the guy up, did the credit over the phone and drove the 7 hours the next day to check it out, well i immediatly fell in love with it and ended up driving it home.

I'm new to the forum and new to Diesels. I have a '03 1500 LT XtraCab 4WD. Not enough balls to pull the jet boat well. So, I ordered a '07 2500HD w/Allison, 4WD, CC, LB, LT3, skids, tow, sunroof, XM, and about everything but the DVD. Sticker was just over $47K, price before any rebates is $41,270. It'll take 5-9 more weeks before they get it in, so I'm hoping that there will be better rebates than the $1,500 right now. Getting it from Dave Smith Motors in Kellog, ID.

Would it have been better to get that same package off the lot in a 2006 model year? I'm certainly no expert but all indications are that changes to the 2007 Diesel engine will require a different grade fuel not readily available and the performance will be less than the 2006 Duramax.

Chime in if I'm wrong. I'm also new to Diesels and chose the 2006 ahead of other budget priorities for this reason.

We got our 03 2500hd 4 door short box for $23,500 with 89k miles.....pretty good i think...

It has the centurion package....which is premium leather with suede in the middle of the seat both lower and upper...all four seats....they are all buckets...

there is leather on the door panels....and real carbon fiber dash and door accents....it looks amazing....i dont really know how nice it is until i get into my bosses 04 1500 thats totally loaded....just regular leather and no carbon fiber and all that it just makes so much difference....his loaded truck seams like botton of the line compared to mine.....It also came with some pretty chrome wheels by centurion also....

Had brand new tires on it when we bought it....by the way the last three sets of tires i had were bridgestone and i gotta say they have outstanding traction on pavement more than any other tire ive had and they still do pretty well off road also....

When we got the truck there wasnt a scratch in the bed.....and it had 89k miles on it.....obviously it was somebodys car.......it was pratically showroom condition.....

I just love it......

Not too sure on milage....i have the edge juice...we got 17.8 mpg going from SD to AR pulling an emtpy car trailer.....and 17 mpg with a mr2 on the trailer....i thought that was pretty damn good.....used level 4 for best milage....
