I have been told there is nothing for my 95 Cheyenne
as far as a programmer is concerned...is this propietery? granted the truck runs like a bat out of hell. none of the truck
performance shops have any performance parts or computer programmers that work on this 6.5 liter diesel...have been told that only 95 are the trucks to be left alone...any suggestions? thank you Mike

thanks, still discovering what be done with a 95 6.5 liter T D standard.....if you have a dually flatbed, the differential may very well be a Dana (80)10 bolt cover 11.5 gear
ring . will give the part # for the differential cover just as I find the reciept...
thanks so much...know this truck beats the **** out of other diesel duallys hands down as stock from General trucks in Houston

granted, there is no reason to chip my truck out any further than what it already has. I want to get rid of the 85 mph limit on full throttle. Like I say before, this truck is hell from a standing start full throttle thru the gears, but 85 mph, the engine kicks out...have you noticed with the Roosa/Master (no throttle linkage) the kickback from the petal on full speed throttle on these diesels? Have you put in an intercooler? boost fooler? boost controller? higher resistor value?......

the reason the truck can't get anymore power is that it is a
1 1/2 ton 9 ft.flatbed built by General Truck and Body in Houston,Tex. and chipped out(according to G.T.& B.) to roll on 222/70R19.5 wheels and was built as a 5th wheel flatbed. Only one vacuum hose from pump to vacuum dump valve and then to the turbo, it came with oil and powersteering hydroboost brake coolers. This Chevy is anything but slow from a standstill without breaking a sweat in 3rd gear. it's a Pasadena Tex. redneck nighmare dually.

You seem to be bashing everyone but gmpartsdirect.

Honestly, I was considering ordering the '06 towing mirrors from them, but if there's any possibility that you are in any way related to them, I think I'll pass.

As far as libel... you are the one who popped your head up after 2 years and started bashing vendors who have a very solid reputation. I've dealt with Kennedy and Merchant for over a year and have had no problems.

His company is A-1
Thats wy the old name Steaksauce.
He is not associated with GM PARTS DIRECT to my knowledge.

I am in no way affiliated with gmpartsdirect, and you can not buy from them, that's your choice and that's perfectly fine with me! I offered the link to them as a source with low prices.
I also use pace parts and NAPA, AutoZone, PepBoys, Michelin, Bilstein and Goodyear, you can avoid those companies/products too...

NOT bashing, just stating facts and giving a heads up on what to avoid and if someone is misled to think I am selling parts I will clear the air! if you were not one of their victims, then good for you! I simply posted a heads-up to help others avoid being victims, that should not be called "bashing".

As for this thread, Mike, your problem is a changed gearing caused by decreased tire size, right? You can get around that by talking to a reputable chip programmer and getting your limiter changed in your PCM ... the 6.5TD run real good up to about 4000 rpm with enough boost. Above that you need stronger springs on the valve train to stop the 'float'.

Sounds like you have a cool truck, Mike... Hope this helps!

Gotcha' boss!

So back to the original topic....

Ya, the TH400 is one of the best trannys that GM has ever built, but it is out of it's league in a modern TD application.
There's a big difference between putting it behind a 454 gasser and a 6.6 Duramax.
The 454 may put out more raw HP, and the trans can be easily modded to handle 600+, but the gasser is not feeding 650+ ft/lbs into that trans at 1800 rpm. It's hitting peak torque closer to 3,000, meaning that the gear reduction for a given rear wheel speed is putting DOUBLE the torque load on the tranny.

Even the Allison can't handle much more than stock LBZ power levels without clutch changes and replacement valves.
GM is obviously aware of this, since the Savanna and MD trucks (manual trans or the GM trans) are getting the derated 250-310hp LLY... only the 2500/3500 Silverado/Sierras are getting the 360hp LBZ, backed by the 6 speed Allison.

Unfortunately, it would be no easy task to swap a 6spd Allison into a 6.5... or even an LB7 Duramax. The new TCM was made to communicate with the new 32bit Bosch ECM and won't talk to the older Delphi units.
