I just moved in to a house that has a 35 X 30 garage separate from the house. The house has a 24 X 30 attached. I insulated it and had it drywalled. Just now getting it set up. I'll get a pic, but it's mostly just stuff in boxes right now.

We had our house built, I made sure I could get a suburban in there one day. 36x24 attatched and insulated. 16' door and an 8' door on the end. Since the old toy is gone, now that extra "bay" has both lawnmowers and the motorcycle in it.

But, even with 3 cars, I have my 2 benches, motorcycle and lawnmower in there with room to walk around. :D

My folks (where I'm living until summer is over) have more square footage in garage than main floor living space. :run:

there's a deep 2 stall garage attached on the end of the house (deep enough I think I could get a car sideways in the front even with a pickup in there). Off the back of that is a 28x40x10 shop. Both are insulated real well.

There was a house for sale nearby a couple years ago that I wanted so badly. It was a modest 1,200 square foot house with a 2 car garage, but out in the backyard was a nice 2,000 square foot shop. :rocking:

we ran a bird and salt water store for years and I bought a sh*t load of at a really good price (about 35 4x8 sheets ) what i like about it is you can use regular peg hooks on it. so all of the tool holders work :smokin:

He!!s yea!!!! :D

We've got a 2-car garage.... not sure of the dimensions, but I know the truck and Cutlass will fit in with no problem. I've got some shelving already from the original owner, but we need to redo the work bench (pressboard on the work surface  ) and add more shelving.

We definately are going to do some sort of floor covering, but have yet to research which product is best. If you've got any ideas/experience with a product - good or bad - lemme know please :D

Here are some pics of my garage, not much but I redid all the electricty. I just mointed it on the walls for now, when i get a chance to insulate and drywall ill put it on the inside of the walls. I got some plans for it to make it a Ideal garage.

Annie, the press board should be ok if it is in good shape. Just make sure to cover it with some thick sheetmetal. The pressboard is actually very good at absorbing vibration when hammering on parts.

I don't have a garage. I have enough stuff to fill one 3 times over, though.

I built a 24x32 shop for my inlaws across the road two years ago. They bought the maerials, I supplied the labor. I dug the footings by hand, in red clay, in the summer. I framed it, I sided it, and I roofed it. I did all of this on the promise I could move my tools in and use it any time I wanted.

As soon as it got finaled, they sold the place (at a nice profit) and moved.

Like I told oldred, it's not the dead friends and relatives you have to worry about, it's the living ones...

Thanks - yea, he's keeping it, but I think he wants to put a laminate over it. :D We still have yet to even look for something for it - we need to extend the counter across... but need to get rid of the stuff from the garage and actually put it in the house. Forunately, my hubby is working on putting his diecast into the office as I type  That's about 15 boxes OUT of the garage :D

Here are a few of mine 50x60 interior deminsions and there is a 12x20 room attached to the back left. The smaller room will house electrical, compressor, and general storage. The main walls will be 16ft gabled and there will be (2) 14x16 overhead doors on the front, and a 16x16 on the right side wall. There will be an enclosed area around the toilet and will extend along the rear wall toward the storage room. Above the enclosed "detail working area" will be a loft for additional parts storage.

I made the beams 20"wide and a minimum of 2 feet deep. I added an extra 3 inches all the way around so that the metal has a ledge to sit in. The concrete is a minumum of 6" thick and is 5000PSI concrete. The rebar is 3/4" in the beams and 1/2" across the top. So exterior diminsions are larger than the above numbers.

Here are some pics of the slab. I am still saving for the steel, as I am paying CASH for the entire project.

Picture from the left front prior to concrete (note all the floor drains):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/dapolice1/Fromfrontleftoverall.jpg

Floor Drain and Electrical Conduit:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/dapolice1/Storageroomelectricalanddrainpipes.jpg

I ran the floor drains and sewage drain systems seperately. The left 2 1/2" is sink drain, the larger is the toilet drain flange:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/dapolice1/Toiletandsinkdrains.jpg

The day it was poured (note the men in on the slab in relation to the overall size, would not be any problem getting that pump truck in there if I wanted to):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/dapolice1/PumpTruck.jpg

Almost finished with the pour:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/dapolice1/Whirlyjigonfirstpart.jpg

I will try to shoot some of the finished slab tommorrow.

It's about $100/yard here.

I only need about 10 yards for my slab, but that's still a heavy chunk of cash for me.

I got my lift first, because I figure that will be the motivation to build a place to put it. I pay cash for everything, one dollar at a time...;)

Garage?….I don’t need no stinkin’ garage! I use 2 massive farm building shops my dad use to use to house his equipment and well rigs. He was a well driller. He passed away in 2004 so now me and the family use them for mostly storage. I know you could fit AT LEAST 10 vehicles in the first one...and you could fit 4 vehicles in the second one...and work on them comfortably. The first one is mostly filled with junk my mom and grandma are going to sell. There’s a little closed area shop built into the first one as well...that’s where I keep most of my stuff...tools, old parts, new parts, etc. I don’t work on as many vehicles in these as I would like to b/c most the time I ride down to “Da Tank”’s place and use all his chit  In the future whenever I can find a place I’d like to settle down, I have plans on building AT LEAST a 4 car garage with heat and air...but for now...here’s what I use.

I am going to have atleast 2 just not sure brand and style yet.

It is a 12,000 lb. Bend-Pak 4 post style. It is a few years old, and is heavier-duty than their current 12K models. It has the overhead cylinder, and chains instead of cables. The closest model they currently list is the 18,000 lb BP-18 (which looks identical to the one I have).

http://www.bendpak.com/product_info.isg?products_id=730

Both the two-post and four-post have their advantages. I was undecided, but this lift basically fell into my lap.

I traded an '83 GMC S-15 for it. The truck was worth about $1000, so I figure I did OK. With the four-post, I'll be able to add turnplates and set it up for alignments. Opportunity for weekend cash...;)

A two-post would be nice for brake jobs, though...

Ya I favor the 2 posts but am considering one movabale 4 post. Think I have decided on the BEND Pak as well.

Bend Pak has been around a long time and is probably a good choice. I read on another forum that some of their lower-end lifts are now made in China, though.

I have done plenty of brake/suspension work on 4-posts using sliding jacks, but it is a PITA working around the runways.

Another consideration is that it can be difficult getting lowered vehicles on and off a four-post unless it is set up flush with the floor or long ramps are set up in front of it. A clear-floor 2 post would be the way to go.

My vehicles are not lowered. I would have to grade and pave 500 feet of driveway if I was going to go that route. My wife has torn the exhaust off her vehicle twice bouncing through the holes. The phrase "slow down" is not in her vocabulary....
