SuperChevy 07-24-2006, 11:57 AM If you're not having any problems (power drop or mileage drop) theres really no point in changing them unless you're upgrading to better injectors for more power. red suburban 07-24-2006, 01:00 PM i've heard some people say to change them at 50k, others at 100k, but only because of power loss. i'd say that if you havent lost any power or gas mileage i wouldnt worry about it. just run some fuel system cleaner through your engine, that would be all i would do for routine maintainance when it comes to injectors. LostBoy 08-08-2006, 04:27 PM ...i'd say that if you havent lost any power or gas mileage i wouldnt worry about it... Sorry - I may have some OCD at work here, but I've noticed this on several of your posts - Diesels get 0 GAS mileage. You're talking about FUEL mileage/economy. Again - OCD on my part, I had to say something :chair: Now as to the question - injectors aren't like brake pads & designed to wear out (they do eventually, but what doesn't?) They may require service at regular intervals (fuel system cleaner or actually going to a shop that offers an injector flush). Saying you need to replace injectors at a certain mileage as preventative maintenance is like saying you have to replace your engine or tranny @ certain intervals. chrisk1500 08-08-2006, 07:39 PM When these injectors go bad they can cause severe piston damage due to incorrect spray pattern/dripping..... The general rule of thumb is 100k for a set of injectors.... If you are on a budget at least pull them out every 50k or so and get them tested at your local injection shop to make sure the spray pattern is correct and that they are popping at the correct psi....... Run Stanadyne Lubricity or PowerService regularly to keep your injectors and IP lubricated and keep the deposits from building up.... Some would say the same for the 4L60E - I just want to make clear that there's a difference between recommended service interval & life expectancy vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
