View Full Version : Help! Predator won't let me install it STLCHEVYHD 07-28-2006, 04:28 PM I already ordered one that wouldn't work by telling me "incorrect vin#". So I sent it back and I just got a new one today and it's giving me the same crap! WTF. It's for my 01 D-Max. wgr2112 07-28-2006, 04:31 PM Don't they have a tech support line? I would think they would be able to run you through it. Gran Patron 07-28-2006, 05:26 PM Call them and see what the deal is if it's brand new. STLCHEVYHD 07-28-2006, 06:06 PM I was on hold waiting for the next available help at Predator for an hour and I finally gave up. I talked with the tech guy at Concourse Direct and he has never seen this problem before. I ordered from them. We seem to think it may have something to do with my truck. The Predator, for some reason, doesn't like what it's reading when it goes to communicate with my truck. I'm going to take it to the dealorship first thing in the morning and have them flash it to update and clear it all out. That may or may not work. I have had this problem with my security light staying on ever since I changed my alterator. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it may. rooster96 07-28-2006, 06:31 PM I dont know much about predator, but i have a bully dog tripple power pup on my 05 LLY. I like the programmer but there tech support SUCKS TOO!!!!!!! A bunch of Yankee A-- holes dozerboy 07-28-2006, 06:36 PM Keep trying to down load it sometimes they're just a PITA, but I haven't heard of VIN problems did you remove the needed fuses? rooster96 07-28-2006, 07:11 PM Yea had too remove several fuses before i programed my truck. I can look at my bullydog manual and let you know wich fuses i had to pull. If it would help rooster96 07-28-2006, 07:22 PM Almost sounds like you could have got a used programer STLCHEVYHD 07-28-2006, 10:51 PM This is the second one I've had sent in the past two weeks. They both did the same thing. The first one I recieved had writing on the manual so I thought maybe they got a return mixed in with their new stuff and I got it. They said that they checked this one out and it's brand new. I followed the diagram on which fuses to pull, but there is one that I can't find. They manual says to pull one that says INFO in the fuse panel in the engine compartment. They are two under the hood and four in the dash panel that I'm supposed to pull. northface 07-28-2006, 10:57 PM maybe you are behind on your reflashes from gm and that is throw it off being that its set up with the lastest version of there software or if you bought your truck used there is another tune on it just a guess Big Angry 07-29-2006, 08:57 AM I dont know much about predator, but i have a bully dog tripple power pup on my 05 LLY. I like the programmer but there tech support SUCKS TOO!!!!!!! A bunch of Yankee A-- holes Yankee A holes? Isn't your beloved BullyDog from Idaho? A far cry from "yankee" isn't it? Funny I don't recall hearing about any Union troops from Idaho......:windowlic :fjoe: j/k STLCHEVYHD 07-31-2006, 04:45 PM Well I took my truck into the dealorship this morning to have the reflash done and to have the "security" light turned off. They call me later and tell me that their scanner won't even work with my truck. They keep getting a "wrong vin" error. Wow, sounds familiar. They said that they've never had this happen and that they are going to have to do more diagnostics such as chase wires etc. Could get $$$. Prolly have to buy a new computer. What sucks is that my 5yr 100k powertrain expired a couple weeks ago, but I made a call to GM customer service and talked with a lady. Got a case # and she is going to call the dealorship tomorrow and talk with them about it. When I called the service manager back and told them to go through with the further diagnostics, he got mad. He said I shouldn't have done that and that they make the determination if we should go after warranty or not. Now he'll prolly jack it all up. STLCHEVYHD 08-01-2006, 08:33 PM The dealorship is going to replace the PCM and it will be covered under some 8yr, 80k mile warranty. Sweeeet! Amazing what a call to GM customer service will get you! STLCHEVYHD 08-04-2006, 04:32 PM Well, I got my truck back today from the dealorship. They replaced the PCM. I immediately took it home and installed the Predator. I put in the 65hp tune and adjusted for the new and bigger tires. I took a little jog around the neighborhood just to feel it. WOW!!! That's fun! I couldn't imagine running the 120hp tune! I can't believe how much it woke it up. It really doesn't smoke as much as I thought it would. I didn't really get to mash on it, but I did kick it down through a yellow light and I about ate up the car in front of me! :burn: chrisk1500 08-04-2006, 05:16 PM Why would you want it to smoke? All that is is wasted fuel from guys not running enough boost..... STLCHEVYHD 08-04-2006, 10:04 PM I didn't say I wanted it to smoke a lot or that I was disappointed that it didn't smoke a lot. Just from what I've read about the Predator, they supposedly make your truck smoke a lot. I'd rather it didn't myself just for the reason you just stated. vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
