w00t a forum just for us Classic drivers!!! man this is great :D . how about we start off with some pics of our Classic Chevys. This one is kind of old but it's all I have since it isn't here with me right now. http://www.digital-forever.com/images/truck/otherside.jpg
just incase any of you are interested I found a single side window kit for our year trucks at http://www.mothertruckers.net/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi?product=glass I have talked to some people with that kit and they liked it. Maybe we can get togeather with some peeps and make a group purchase. anyways Welcome to the classic part of :fsc:
We have a 1970 c/10 with a 402. No pics though.

hey have you had any problems with finding parts for your 402? I found one I was going to buy for 800 but I was told it is hard to find parts for them unlike the 350 and 454's.

I still got my 80 C10 with a I6 and a 3 on the tree :D
Im dropping it 3/4 and stuffing a 350 with a TH350 for the drivetrain. Its nice and straight still. I love her to death, I would post pics, but I have none.

the engine isn't in the truck yet :cussing: waiting for some more $$ to finish the rest of the truck. The engine is all put togeather though and I am told it started up just fine. I am getting kind of tired of it not being here with me =/ but I can't complain about it being worked on for pretty much free lol. hopefully I'll be going up there next month and get some pics of how it is going.
just a side ? do you all think I should have the frame powder coated black?

How much HP do you think you can squeeze outa the motor?
And yes, every frame should be powder coated black :D

well from what we have figured it will be about 400 HP at 20 PSI :-D later on if I can get the $$ and decide not to drive the truck much I might push for a single T66 and run some high octane raceing fuel and try for 30 PSI but that will be a ways down the road. 400 hp will hopefully catch me some mustangs and ford lightnings :D

well... 400HP out of a 292 I6 aint bad at all! How reliable it is may be another story.
Good job on the motor though... :head: :head: :head:
I havent looked at parts for the 402 to much yet. WE will be rebuilding the motor and tranny pretty soon, the truck is my 15 y/o brothers and he will be driving it soon.

From what I understand the I6 is a pretty tough motor. So Far it has made it through 97K miles with it sitting for about 8 years then we started it up and it has only had to have a few minor fixs( rusted exaust manifold so I bought headers, waterpump, new plugs, rebuilt carb, and ofcourse oil changes :D) I had it rebuilt at 96k hehe because I wanted it cleaned up and I also wanted to be sure it could handle the turbo's

Um... yeah you CANT KILL a I6. I have had friends TRY TO KILL THEM, because his dad said he'd buy him a 350 if it died. He tried to kill that thing for like 7 months.
He drove the SH|T outa that thing everyday, winding it up as high as it could go in 1st through 3rd. It never died. :D
How much did the turbo cost and how was the installation? Im wondering because my 250 I6 has only 40k on it and Im wondering if it might be a lower cost alternative to a 350

I got a good deal on the Turbo’s I bought 2 for 600 and the guy working on my truck rebuilt them for free. If you have your stock manifold just get 1 turbo. A single turbo on an inline seems to workout better and the stock manifold is strong enough to hold it. A single turbo installation on a carb setup is pretty easy just needs some minor carb work. You can push about 6 PSI on a stock inline I believe and it doesn't take much moding to get it to where you can push up to 20. Shoot me an email at todd@digital-forever.com and I'll give you what a guy gave me to do mod wise to do my turbo setup. The entire turbo setup was about 2 1/2k but 1k of that was custom headers =/. I can't wait to get it all running and get it on the drag. I'm going to take a pic of every V8 Truck and car I smoke ;-). I could have done a N/A setup on the inline for 3k but that is only 300 Hp so I saved 500 dollars and got 100 more hp and still have better gas mileage then what it had before it was worked on :head: . That is what I like best about Turbo’s is that it is like a never ending bottle of NOS, you don't use it all the time but when you want it just press the petal down.
BTW I wanted a V8 but I got to thinking... wouldn't it be nice to have a kind of unique engine that only has 6 cyl and be able to catch up or beat a big heavy V8? Even if I lose it is just the thought of someone thinking I can compete enough to race them hehe.

Well... 2 1/2k is what my new engine/tranny setup will cost. Ill be running 300-350HP, so Im thinkin ill just stay with that. $1200 Goodwrench longblock + $600 Rebuilt TH350 from Summit + The other needed parts = about 2 1/2k. Prolly gonna end up being 3k or above, but I can be optimistic :D

I have my 68 with a 292 and just converted it to a floor shift...
AND YES .. I am jealous of timiman... I want turbos:bawl:
I love the 292.. and I love the classic look, thats why I kept the 4 wheel drums and the 292 in the first place.
When I get the money... New intake that will fit a 4 barell and headers, new head and pistons. Then maybe a turbo..
I want a bad ass rat truck!
LONG LIVE THE CLASSICS

Clifford Performance :-D they have some good quallity 292 performance parts. let me know if you want some headers because I'm going to sell mine. they weren't coated when I got them or put them on but I will look them over and if they are rust free then I will nickel plate them or let you jet coat them if you want them. I have only had them for about 1 1/2 years now. The truck has been sitting for about 4 months out of that but I'll get some pics and let you decide :-D. also let me know when you are wanting to buy an intake. I'm about to buy a bunch of dress up stuff for my engine soon from clifford so maybe they will give a discount with it.
