Man......just saw the mustang mower episode of "monster garage". They rigged up a flame throwing exhaust kit on the stang. How in the hell can this be done , its gotta be one of the most wicked custom tricks ive seen. A definate head turner.:naughty:

The way I used to do that was to drill a hole in the tailpipe about a foot from the end...weld a nut onto the tail pipe over the hole...thread in a sparkplug...mount a ignition coil in the rear, located by the newly installed spark plug...connect a plug wire from the coil to the plug....ground one side of the coil, the other side run a +12 volts to a switch mounted within drivers reach....richen up the carb....pump the pedal a few times.......rev it slightly...flip the switch...

WA-LA

singed leg hair on unsuspecting people behind your car!

I've only done this on REAL CARS (V8's)....as for newr FI cars.....Not sure how well it would work.....

If you wanna do it right, you really need open headers. :D

Works best that way!

I remember awhile back...I not 100% sure, but It may have been those guys selling that kit on ebay...all it consisted of was about 20' of 12 ga. red wire, 2' of 12 ga. black wire, a momentary push button switch, some solderless crimp connections and instructions....nothing else! you have to supply the COIL,PLUG, PLUG WIRE.......Sounds like your really just paying for instructions....they must be related to HILL-OFF-ROAD!

from what I understand you can't legally sell a kit with the coil - sparkplug - plug wires. some legal crap. I was thinking of getting a kit but I think it wouldn't work like I would like it to hehe. I dunno if you should ignite the exaust 3 feet from the engine =/ But it might still be an idea :-D

I dont think this would work on a never truck like say a 95 TBI. Id love to have some crazy sheat like that but I think the dam, computer will keep the mixture too lean for flamage. Anyone got any opinion on this

coming from a 94 tbi, fuel injected vehicle, all you have to do is remove the guts from the catalytic converter, and have a chip, this makes the mixture rich(er), and then get your computer used to making it rich by running the shi* out of it all the time, then push your little tailpipe barbeque button, and let em burn.

You would have to burn your own chip.:read: The 02 sensor would have to be eliminated, and this would cause serious tuning issues becuase the O2 is a primary sensor in TBI equipped vehicles. It would have to run in open loop all the time, say hello to single digit fuel mileage. :D

well, maybe mine is just extremly out of tune, but when i romp on my gas several times, i can tell my exhaust mixture is running rich, i bet i could make flames, but i'm more interested in trying to go fast...

I wish there was a way to test it out before drilling holes and mounting plugs and coils. I already have a hollow cat and I know Im running real rich so it might work

one way to test that is to hold a lighter to the exhaust, strike when ready.:rocking:

Id like to keep what hair I do have on my arms. I do have a psycho buddy that I might be able to coax into being the guinea pig for me. Wouldnt the lighter go out with the air from the exhaust though

maybe you could take one of those sparkers off a grill and try it that way. I personally wouldn't do it lol but hey if you want to know I guess that's pretty much the only way.

This thread needs a disclaimer:D

Just hold the lighter at the bottom edge of the tailpipe and light it. If it lights the exhaust, I will be surprised that you are running that rich.:smokin: :D
