what is the difference between the 2 setups? i see that there is about a 1HP difference, and the air box is different, and the tube is alluminum on the 77Kit. I like having the polished aluminum, but is the GEN II that much better than the other?

Well, you gotta be a neighbour of mine. I have heard that the 77 kit metal tube seems to hold heat and get a litle hotter than the plastic tube on the FIPK. You might want to check out the same kit made by Airaid. They make the same type of kit and their filters have an extra synthetic layer of filter material that the K&N does not have. I have used the K&N and found a very fine film of dirt on my TBI but I haven't had that problem with the Airaid. Don't place to much onus on the HP numbers you see on these sites. If someone placed one of the three kits mentioned above on your truck I would doubt you would feel any difference between them.
