new guy looking for a truck

Thought I would say hello. I currently have an 01 half ton chivy 4.3. I never needed a truck to tow just move stuff from place to place in the bed. Things have changed, and I now need something to tow my impala. I'm looking at base model(w/t) 2500 4x4's.
Can't decide what engine/trans to go with for what I want. I'l just snoop around for a bit, and ask noob questions :dunno:
