My Garage is finally coming together guys...:mexsmoke: I am happy about it so I figured I would post some pics up and let you guys tell me what you think... All of the siding is rough cut pine. I am going to leave it untreated for a couple years and let it grey out before I seal it up. I even used old school iron nails randomely throughout the siding so that it will leave rust streaks in the wood. The upstairs is going to be a party room/ guest house.

This is the north side facing a 45 to the house. The openings on the second floor will are for 2 regular windows and a large centered bay window.

This is the south (back side). There will be two normal size windows and a french door walking our onto the deck. That is what the big hole in the middle is for. We actually have metal up on the whole roof now.

This is the east side facing the road... for those familiar with old barns in the midwest, I am seriously thinking about painting an old tobacco sign on this side. I have a freind here that paints that stuff by hand and it looks completely authentic antique.. I know this is completely off topic but its just like hot rods and trucks man... I have waited all of my life to have my own garage like this and I feel like a kid with a new toy or an 18 year old with a new tatoo..... :)

TONY--

I can't even imagine what something like that would cost. I wouldn't even need another house....that's plenty big for me. Congrats. I think the tobacco sign on the outside would be really cool....Either a tobacco or and old antique looking full service filling station signage.

Who is the builder on that? Is that all steel construction building with finished exterior walls? I have seen things similar to that on the net but nothing with that layout?

Tony
way cool. But as you will find out.....it's never big enough!!
You could do the tobacco ad (MailPouch), but also consider a painted gasoline sign, "See Rock City", or one of those huge (6 foot) metal Gulf Oil signs.
I'm sure you've already wired it for phone, cable (or satellite), and internet. Be sure to pipe compressed air to all 4 sides. And put in a lift.
Hey, we're here to help spend your money:cheer:

I thought about that but all of my fellow clownies are in this forum so I posted it here....

"ih8you"

Actually it has not been all that bad because I have done a lot of work my self. I did hire a friend of mine which has a construction business, He and his crew handled all of the bigger stuff and basically I have just more or less acted like a laborer.I will be finishing all of the rest of it on my own though. I only needed them to help me get the shell up and under roof in a timely manor. I do have a bunch of authentic antique signage that I am going to put on the outside too..... I even have a late 50's gas pump.....and early round top coke machines. The wife and I are into antiques.

"Izzy"
Ive got one but it is a late 50's.. I want one of the late 40's round tops with the globe. I do have two round florescent Texaco station signs and one Phillips sign that I am going to light up too.....

Man its been a long time and kissing the wifes but and remodeling / constructing "her" home before I could get this far. In conjucntion with this, I have also just kicked my four daughters out of there rooms and moved them into the basement. I have began knocking out their walls and ripping flooring up. Too much going on man ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Awesome garage. I know the look you're thinking of with the painting idea, but I might be tempted to do something like one of these (minus the snow, of course)

Man I appreciate it guys.... when I get all excited and talk to the wife she just gets this "child!!" look on her face... I knew my internet homies would be there :)

Chuggar,
Ther is an old corner Mobile station in Huntingburg that is just like that picture man... I wanted to buy it but that is all I need is another payment.

ih8you, I dont care man.... its been a long time coming for a poor boy like myself so I like showin it off right now :)

Scgmc; Already there man, I have some old signs and I have been looking for an old 6ft Texaco... I just have not come across one yet. I do have some of the larger round florescent texaco and Phillips lights but I think I will keep those on the inside for "party lights" :) and as far as the satellite, I have a 4x4 coming off of one dish 1000 just for the garagr so I can hook up 3 tvs and I already have plumbing and electricity scabbed in. We had to dig up the whole underground service to my house and replace it so now I have 400amps total to the house and 200 from the house to the garage. I also have phone lines and sewage ( thats right.. 1 man urinal downstairs! ha ha ha )scabbed in too :)

Izzy,
I have a late 50's texaco pump but I really want a late 40's round top with a globe... if you know of any... let me know. I do have some orginal Mobile globes for the top so I wont need that.

I'm a '61 man myself (although born in '62). I think it is one of the most beautiful body styles ever produced. The roof is floating on glass and the pillars are hardly noticable. I think GM first pioneered it with Cadillac, but the Chevy versions are the best. It was like a "Jetsons" style thing back then.

As dream cars go, mine would be a '61 SS 409 Sport Coupe, bone stock original.

It is not a prefab steel building.... it is a framed building. I actually purchased a set of plans from an architect in Upsate NY and then modified them.... because obviously I modify stuff and I know better than he does :):smokin:
