Alright, so the other night I got around to drinking 3/4s a case of budlight, and wake up and my vents, bevel, and the vents on the sides of the dash are all painted black. The vents have fingerprints in them from me trying to shove them back in, the bevel around the cluster doesnt look bad, besides in 1 stop. Everything is jacked, and I dont remember doing it. Will paintstripper work so I can get the paint off and spray them with Krylon Fusion paint?

Yeah, I used some gay ass "Satin" finish SPRAY PAINT. IM a jackass, and from now on, I need to stay outta my truck when im blown. Thanks guys, hope theres something I can use to fix this.

I don't know what the paint stripper will do to plastic:dunno:

I DO know to stay away from the fusion paint....It sucks!!

I've tried it in every imaginable situation, with or without primer, and it fugs up every time.

Can I just sand all the paint off maybe, then lay several coats of primer down and then repaint them? What interior paint would you suggest?

NEVER use paint stripper on plastic anything! It will fug it up bad. To help you out, the best thing you can do is sand out the imperfections you made in the paint you attempted to spray in your not so sober state, then 1 to 2 good coats of a high build primer. NOT sandable primer, that shit blows when it comes to aerosol cans. Then just do whatever color you want and it should come out fine.

Yeah, sanding would be your best bet, IMO.

The best interior paint is exterior paint. If you can afford it, the finish will be sooooo much better, and last longer.

the paint stripper is likely to make the plastic looked wrinkled. it would probably need to be sanded after that.

Hm...Would an electric sander work? Or do it by hand?

Electric sander will do good, but will not get in some of the tight spots.

It shouldn't take long at all to sand down the drunk paint.

Cool....When you get done, come to my house, so you can finish my dash.

Honestly I wouldnt use an electric sander because it can cause the plastic to heat up and melt/distort. Good luck with it though.

Well, I ran out of sandpaper, but it seems to be doing the trick. WyotechMSA, I made sure that I didn't stay in one area just for that fact. Gonna have to run tomorrow to get sandpaper, and this thread can be closed! Thanks guys!

I know this sounds odd but has anyone tried brake fluid? I did this MANY years ago building models. Worked great got everything out of the small detail parts. Don't know if it will hurt or soak into this type of plastic and ruin it. Anyone else ever do this???
