new shop, what tools????

sup guys....i am starting my own shop here in hawaii and would like to know what are some good names and equipment to go with...i know ill need a wedling machine, plasma cutter, air compressor and tanks..???im just starting off on buying all my tools first before i get my shop...so i would like to know the basic equipment needed, but a realistic price???thanks..MJ...

all depends on wat type of shop this is that your starting....little bit of everything ? You should buy the bare minimum first, welder, grinders, plenty of discs and cut off wheels, extension cords, drill press, general tools( hammers screwdrivers sockets etc.)torch setup. all this stuff adds up rather quickly, but if money isnt a thing, then compressor, air tools, tubing bender pnematic lift..theres plenty of different things out there, but like i said, dont strap yourself, just keep it simple for a few. no need in wasting money.

i plan on doing basic airbag jobs and also custom fabbing...

are there other shops near you that are doing simular work? tour 1 or 2 and see how they're setup and what tooling they have. OR go out of town and do the same thing.

work for a competitor for a couple of months, to get the lay of the land, so to speak. make sure you respect his clientel. you'd what the same, if the situation was reversed.

for the more expensive equipment, you can rent as you need it. this will conserve capital. it'll also give you the time you'll need to know what features you'll truelly need to spend your $$ on. if you find your in need of the same equipment on a regular bassis there's also a option to lease some of the more $$$$ stuff.

eh, thanks...ya, i shoudl take a couple tours around some shops..ya, i guess i could rent stuff, then i can see which i like better..thnaks for info...
