Damn i need to get on the forums more! I now have one forum on FSC to do a lot of reading up on. I havnt seen this thread in a while, but i havnt been on much either. Awesome work on the swap man.. i like the attention to detail..
edit.. Looking back through saw your height senders... always wondered about building sumpin to do that. psi changes so much with weight (gas/passengers) what did you use for parts? worked with them on semi's but they're and actual air valve also.
I used Dakota digitals system I got a real good deal on it.It uses height sensors and air pressure. It is very adjustable, but to make it work proper you have to use small 1/4 inch line which I had no problem with. I also have adjustable valves inline and on my dumps with silencers. Not looking for speed with big lines etc. When I air out all you hear is the click of the solenoids. Just like to keep thigs as clean as possible. Thanks for all the comments guys, I should be able to get it back in the garage next week so I can work on the bumper.

kewl. i did a little searching and saw that kit after i posted. how does it determine to use the height sensors vs the press sensors? i hear ya on the small valves/line. i planned on a stealth up/dwn setup piggybacked on a 1/2" fill system. want to have slow dumps, fast ups as well as very slow ups for when i want to go up a lil without hopping up infront of 5.0
i really like that front end work you did. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :-)

Hey 3up, I Must Say: Nice Work And Continue To Take Your Customs To Another Level. Also,i Will Like To See Some Of Your Pics Of Your Sir Micheal Rear Latch Relocator Inside And Out. Now, I Need To Do My 2door Tahoe After I Caught Three Teenager Breaking Into My Tahoe On Sunday.
Kruzn it just for fluctuations so if your on an off camber that say your front wheel get pushed up in the wheel well so that the computer doesn't try and adjust ride height for that wheel because it See's the increase in pressure. If that makes any sense at all.:dunno:. On the monitor it shows tank/bag pressures and shows ride height in percent. Along with a million other programmable features.
POWERAID I don't have any pics of the rear latch, it's not a Sir Michael's I just modded a old front handle to work on the inside, there's already a removable plate there to install it in.:hack:

Mine is, i have been useing it with factory tape it works very nice!!! But i have rocker panels on my poject and the tape they use on there is death! But as for a a 3M wheel and it works great on molding tape etc!
If you log into my truck project pictures you will notice my slow progress i dont talk about with the removal of the old tape, being im bagging the truck i dont want to dwell on the negatives haha.

I just have to keep posting in this thread...It is one of my favorites. Loving the lines that are created by forging these generations together.
And your right...that front end pic is badass...you should be proud!!
Well I finally got her back inside on the weekend and got a chance to start working on the bumper.I got half the mounts done as I cut the bumper in half as its too wide and allot easier to fabricate and weld when you can whip off one side at a time. 99 & up GMC bumper by the way because I like the lower valiance.
Here's when I started with only a few cuts to haul the back in to go in line with the fender.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/yz426quad/bump.jpg
Here's the rest of the pics as of an hour ago, made it so the body-line is the same height as the line of the bumper. The line is also the same depth as the lines on the doors etc. It may not look it but there was allot of cutting and welding to get that body line in there.. Soo much left to do,all that over again on the other side , weld the halves together, mounts on the other side then getting the center up against the grill. Oh well at least the hard parts over now that I have a visual of how its going to look. Enough babbling here's the pics.:nopity:.

Looks awesome, but one question. Is it just bolted to the frame, or do you have it tied into the fenders somehow? Just asking cuz the bumper/frame flexes different than the body and don't want you to tear up your paint when you go out and drive it for the first time. Otherwise it looks pretty nice, and definitely different.

There you go 3 !! I was waitin 2 c what you were gonna do.You had said somethin about using 2 bumpers and making 1.So instead you took one bumper and cut it in half ? just to shrink it,length wise and rebuild the brackets to close the gap? Nice! Those bumpers were the "only goodlooking ones"for the GM trucks imo.and even better flush.Looks great!!

I'll take another pic tomorrow night, not much room in the garage to get too far away.:dunno:. I have to buy a new battery for it tommorrow so I may back it outside to see how it looks and snap a pic or two.

It's just bolted to the frame and there's a gap in between the fender and the bumper. Nice to see you looking out for me though. Cant Wait to paint it alot of blocking to do before that, primer grey would be nice though.:aniteef:.

did those colorado tail lights fit right in there or was there alot of body reshaping involved?
The shape of the quarters is the same as the light the tailgate is different but very little. You have to shave a little off the light itself so your tailgate gap is proper and do your normal sheetmetal filling etc..

Haven't had much time to work on the bumper but I did get all the holes welded up from the top cover and got the other side all shaped in + all the mounts made for it also. I ended up taking 3-3/4" out of the center to get the right width. Now I just have to weld the center and onto the smoothing.. I even took a pic before the filler for you guys. ill say it again, definitely one of the sweetest builds ive seen, that front end looks right at home on there. I cannot wait to see the finished product so i can photoshop it on to my truck. a bit down the road i legitimately may consider this, it looks too good. great work bro
Couple more pics, she's out of the garage for a week or two. Will take more pics once I get the valiance welded up after taking the 3 3/4" out of it. Once I get it back in I'm taking a break from the bodywork and do something more important.Gonna install my extra 5gal.ss tank underneath and make some brackets and install the EDC.

3-UP that looks saweeet!!!! Awesome job. What happened to the old front end parts (eg. grill,headlights,parking.markers...) are they up for grabs.. Let me know, my 2door is comming along but still need some more parts. Thanks...
All the nose parts are pretty much junk, grill cracked and broke everywhere,head/park lights are toast, used to be a Florida vehicle.

3 did you use that part of the core all the way down and weld it to the original core and and if not did you use the section that the headlight mounts to.

I was also wondering about how you to the measurments to cut the fenders..... Cant understand where to measure from..... I also love the tails.. And Grant does cary them in stock now. So sweet this ride is....
All i did was modify the tops of the support as shown in the pics. As for the fenders you rough cut them first then continue to cut them down until the nose of the hood lines up with your lights and grill.
Here's some valiance pics , the first thing I let someone else do on the Hoe dumb move on my part.:whatever:. I asked to just have it welded down the seam thats it,do not grind the weld or do any finishing work so I could carefully smooth the welded seam and leave the factory color. I pick it up to see they have puddied and primed about two feet across the middle... I fixed it up a bit to stick it on to see how it looks.

I see you deleted the post but yes I have welded up a few things with it. It works great. I did a caddy body kit and welded up the bowtie on my grill. I have used it a few more times but cant remember right now. :D
Yah I was going to make a new reply but got distracted. Good to know that they work well if I do another valiance.
I should be able to get it back inside to work on the EDC and the extra tank at the end of next week hopefully.

He cut it up and put back together. I can bet that he did not use JB weld. :aniteef:
In all seriousness you just have to tear into it. Cut and fit as you go. It is not really that hard. what worked for him might not do the trick for you. He extended fenders and other things that might not have been noted.

Do u have measurements for the first cut on the top of the fenders
I would think one of the easiest ways would be to bolt the hood on with just enough spacers to clear the fender. Then use a protractor to trace the hood profile on the fender. Of course you need to add 1/4" to get your gap. then cut the fender take out the spacers and refine your edge. And go from there.
