Help a kid out

So my cousin gave me a nice new sony with a flip down face and when i wired it up in my truck it didnt work so i hooked it up to a battery on my tool bench and it works fine. It seems as if it is not getting power to it when in the truck. My truck came with the cd player that was seperate from the casette and reciver i was wondering if that may have something to do with it? It is a 1998 if that helps.

have you checked the fuses?

Fuse on the truck and the radio are good. I was wondering if it is maybe worth a try to use the ground and positive from the cd side or maybe if they both have to be hooked up somehow.

Well i fixed that problem but now since i got the cd player from my cousin it does not have the metal sleve where can i get one? I need it to mount it with the dash kit i got.

you shouldent need the metal sleeve with a dash kit, it screws right into the side of the deck the lil slts on the sides there not the best screw holes...
