I have a 06 1500HD with the 6.0. I was originally planning on getting a cat-back, but after looking at the prices and doing some thinking I have decided that the cat back is not worth the money since the major flow improvement they provide are in the muffler. I don't need to go up to 3" pipe if everything before that 3" pipe is stock... that would actually hurt my performance by reducing exhaust gas velocity wouldn't it? Anyway I have 3 plans running around in my head right now and I wanted to get some oppinions on these. The first idea is to do a very basic muffler swap with a 2.5 dual inlet and a single out and keep the factory tailpipe. Second is to go to a dual in dual out muffler with a built in x-pipe like the Dynomax Ultra Flo X and see if the shop can put another tailpipe over the axle and exit next to the factory pipe. Now my gear head side is wondering if it would be possible to put in an x-pipe and then use dual bullets or something like a 4" diameter Magnaflow #10416 (never heard these used on a v8 before) and have them both exit to the passenger side. Has anyone had a muffler shop do a second tailpipe? There isn't a whole lot of room under there. Also, which of these would yeild the best performance and which do you think would sound the best (I already know the 2 bullets would be the loudest lol).
