I'm going to remove my jumpseat and replace it with a center console and I noticed that the nuts holding the seats down have notches in it and it looks like a special tool is needed to remove it...

Can I just use a regular socket? or do I have to buy the special tool?

You can use regular sockets. If I recall correctly you need a 15 and 11 mm sockets, would recommend deepwell 6 point. I have used the sockets many times taking my seats out and putting them back in.

Have a nice day.

Why do you need to remove the seats to replace the jumpseat/console?

Why do you need to remove the seats to replace the jumpseat/console?
because the jumpseats brackets are placed under the seats brackets, causing you to have to remove them in order to lift the middle seat off.

done it many times. changed my old trucks interior from the cloth buckets and middle seat to leather bukets and center console...simple

Oh,Ok. I replaced my jumpseat with a console & just loosened the four nuts that held the j-seat to the bracket & then bolted the console to the j-seat bracket. That's why I asked about removing the seats, that's all.

what are these 6 point sockets are they regular sockets? i keep hearing about, that you need to take the bolts off to remove the seat? And if i wanna put a custom enclosure where the middle seat was, do i have to worry about a trach being there once i remove the seat, or a rail where the seat rest on?or will it be flat in the middle where the center seat was?

can the passenger seat be removed only to get the middle seat out, or do both driver and passenger seat have to be out in order to take middle seat out?And when the middle seat is taken out, is the track or rail system the middle seat sits on still there, or is it completly an open space?
