From what Im told everyone has that problem. One guy told me you can bend the shifter back just a little so it clears.

yea thats what i do currently. I have to pull the shifter back for it to clear. i figured there must be a wat to shorten the shifter or somehow get it out of the screens way all together.

They all do that not just the Pioneer... My advice, Since you have an 04, switch it out for a Z-3 flush Mount...

You can purchase another shifter which is bent specifically for this purpose. Usually built out of billet aluminum, so they look pretty good. I have seen them on Ebay for around $120.

Here's one of the Ebay stores that carries the shortened shifter:

Also you can set up the pioneer to stay flipped out so that it when you shut off the truck and start it, it just stays out

Ya you can take the shifter off, and bend it, as it is just a metal rod inside the rubber coating. I dont feel like finding the post, but the kid who molded a 15" touchscreen computer into his dash on an 03 tahoe, happens to be one of my best friends, and that is what he did for clearance, just bent it.
