View Full Version : 4 Watt RMS? Big Difference?

So I'm trying to decide whether I should go with a Pioneer or an Alpine HU. My greatest concern though is that the Alpine is 18W RMS, while the Pioneer is 22W RMS. Does anybody think that the four watts matter all that much? Eventually I'm going to install an amp, but for now, I just want something better than stock.

FWIW, the Pioneer is the DEHP5900, while the Alpine is the CDA-9883.

Thanks in advance...

I don't know much about those 2 head units, but I do know that the difference between 18 and 22 watts will be barely if even noticable at all.

Look at the features of the decks more importantly, output voltage and ergonomics too.

i had and 06 alpine and i just got the 5900 pioneer. i like the pioneer alot better. more features has 4v preouts and comes with a remote. i like the pioneer better, but like i said i did not have the newer alpine like you are looking at.

Well neither one will put out anywhere near 18w anyway. You'd be lucky to get a good 5w out of either. In either case it is a negligible difference and if you are really concerned you need an amplifier.
