This sounds stupid, but I was woundering if a newer stock sterio (2003 and up) would fit in my 2001? I just like the look of stock in the dash. I have a 2001 silverado with just the CD/AM/FM, I want CD/MP3/AM/FM. Any thoughts???

No. Different size, different mounting, different harness, and it runs off a data bus wire.

What years will work? Just looking to up grade, there had to be a better radio package then just 1 cd and am/fm... right?

95-02 will work. You can even pull some out of chevy cars as long as they have the same harness and dont have external amplifiers. But youll have to make those fit...they wont have the same brackets as the one in your truck.

As far as 1cd am/fm, I'm pretty sure thats the best youre going to find, but not 100%.

Is there a way to trick the '03 sterio? Getting it in the dash I can do it's the wiring I question. I can make the connector but what of this Data wire??? Any thoughts? What happens when the Data is left out of the loop, will the sterio lockup? Can a dealer program the sterio to keep this from happing? I know it's alot but I'm truly interested. Thanks...
