I fried mine a couple years ago while jumping my battery, and now I want to remove it. I tried to program a keyfob for my truck, but i could get the locks to cycle after crossing the OBD pins. The dealer said I have the option in my truck so i should be able to program a remote, or at least get the locks to cycle.

Im kind of intimidated because they say theyre kinda hard to install, but is it easy to remove them? But ive always done my own work and am confident in any other kind of wiring/soldering. Is it as easy as removing the control module and all the wires going out to different things? Any tips would be great.

Oh, its a Astrostart 1105u unit if that helps.

Thanks
Sean

Pretty much, its as simple as finding the brain, tracing the wires back to where theyre connected, cutting the wire off(or taking off the t-tap) and taping it off. If they butt connected the wire to the stock wiring, you could just cut the aftermarket wire, but itd be better to cut both ends of the butt connector, then solder it back together.

2 things to look for. If they cut your starter wire for starter kill. Your starter wire is going to be a thick yellow (or purple) wire coming from the ignition(where you put your key in). If they just tagged onto it, great, just cut it off. If its been cut and have 2 separate wires going to it, then youll have to connect it back together.

Last thing-->door locks. More than likely they cut the door lock wires. So youll have 4 different wires going to your door locks. 2 factory wires that have been cut, then 4 aftermarket wires going to those. Its really easy, just connect the two factory wires back to its respective wire.

Its really pretty easy.
