guys I am going to attempt to run three subs in my 64 chevelle. How would I go about wiring (2) 4 ohm subs and (1) 2 or 8 ohm sub..this sub is a dvc sub. I have 2 amps to choose from a infinity 601a 456 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohmsť 657 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms or a
HCCA 225r--- 2 x 25 @ 4 Ohm, 2 x 50 @ 2 Ohm
2 x 100 @ 1 Ohm ,2 x 200 @ .5 Ohm
1 x 100 @ 4 Ohm, 1 x 200 @ 2 Ohm
1 x 400 @ 1 Ohm
What do you think..I would like to exchange a few e mails with someone about some of this..

You could parallel the 2 4ohms (2ohm load) and then put the 2 ohm sub in series for a total of 4 ohms/ or series the 2 4 ohms (8ohm load) and then parrallel that whole thing with a 8 ohm sub for a total of....4 ohms. I don't think you can get a 2 ohm load with the choice of subs you gave.

I went to http://www.bcae1.com/ and read about tri mode power dissapation but I dont quite understand it all..

you can't mix subs like that with a good result.

I should clarify, if they are all connected to the same amp they need to be all in the same size box and identical subs; otherwise it is a waste of both amp and sub. If you mix sizes/coils/subs you better really know what you are doing as well. I would highly recommend not at all trying what you propose.

If the one sub is just the DVC model and is the same as the other subs you might be alright.
3 of them wired in parallel with the DVC bridged to 2 ohms will give you 1 ohm mono, which is what you're looking for.
but mix matching subs is not recommended, what you will end up with is a system that hits really hard with about 2% of all the music you listen too, the rest of the songs you play will sound like ass.

Incorrect. Changing coils is like changing speakers.

The difference isn't nearly as dramatic as mix matching different lines of subs all together. I hate to admit but I've done it before, before there was an internet where I could ask questions.

That isn't always the case.

That isn't always the case.
of course, that's why I said he "might be alright"
b1, I just read about the infinity amp, if those stats are correct, you could use that infinity and the 2 svc subs wired in parallel and be better off than using that egg frying Orion with the 3 subs.

I beleive I will just go with the 2 svc 10's, now these 10's call for .78cu ft of space...Would they perform better in a box that is 1.56 cuft with no seperation or 2 boxes that are .78 cuft each??
I prefer seperate airspace for each sub myself, which accomplishes two things, by building each sub its own airspace you insure that you get the correct airspace and you basically brace the enclosure by dividing it, both good things in my experience.
