Alright, on my restoration/customization project truck, I'm planning on designing it for weekend trips to the drive-in and to the mountains. (Think bench seat in bed between the notch and back of the bed, long bed too) I decided it would be cool to mount an LCD somewhere in the bed, but I wasn't sure where. Then it struck me. Flip down monitor from the fiberglass tonneau cover.

So, my question is this. Is the fiberglass strong enough to support the weight of the monitor without flexing, and if so, is there any other way to mount it without punching holes in the cover? If it isn't strong enough, then I guess I would have to fabricate a metal support structure for it, which wouldn't be too difficult, would it?

Alright, and finally, bad idea or neat idea?

Thanks in advance.

its a neat idea and the fiberglass should hold it fine. As for mounting i dont know of anyway other then drilling holes through the top. Unless ur good with fiberglass and make a custom mount for it. Good luck Anthony

the good thing about fiberglass is that if it isn't strong enough to do what you want, just add more to it. A few layers should hold the monitor.

Alright, thanks people. Does anyone know if a Gaylord hard tonneau cover will hold that kind of weight? I would rather not have to add layers to it, but if I have to, I will.
