I have a 93 ECSB and I'm getting a CS144 built and adding a second battery, I need to know what cables were used in my body style truck to connect the batteries on Diesels that came factory w/ 2 batteries, and also was the negative for the second battery run to the other negative or to ground?

Also does anyone know of a company that sells a bracket to fit a CS144 in my truck, since the holes won't line up?

Thanks for any help.

As far as dual batteries go, I used the camper battery setup with a relay on the inner fender right next to the windshield washer reservoir. Since it's an auxilary battery the factory setup uses 10 gauge cable which then connects to the firewall battery connector under the black cover. The relay on the inner fender is controlled through a connector that goes through the firewall to the fuse and connector panel sort of under and above the brake pedal. When I hooked mine up I used the factory schematic which was confusing since the connector block is not in the same orientation as the schematic. It was a little tricky, but mine looks just like the factory setup. Looking at the amps you want to push I think you would probably overwhelm the stock auxilary battery setup, but it gives you an idea anyway.

I wrote two posts last night and it looks like only one made it through. I was commenting on your CS144 alt. replacement and I have the same plan on my '89. I'll have to replace the steel serpentine bracket before I can do that however. If the CS144 you plan to use has 180 degree clocking/ mounting points you can use a GM bracket that will bolt right in to the 120 degree mounting points of the CS130 alt. Part #10077589 should fix you right up. They used this bracket on the '90 TBI (Chev.) engine I acquired that came out of a '90 Cadillac.

hey, thanks a lot for your help. I'm glad to hear that they do have a bracket I can use, I was afraid I was going to have to get one made.

I wanted to post a picture of the bracket, but I don't have that option to post attachments. I tried...

I have a 96 that I just added a second battery to. What I did was found a driver side battery tray from a diesel truck. removed the storage box and installed tray. I bought a 200 amp alt. from Alterstart. ran 4guage wire from alt to each battery. and grounded new Batt. to frame.

I did all this because I'm running a 10 pill linear amp.
