is there a way to protect the crome on your rims from like stratches, dings and chips like from rocks etc ,like the way a good wax job will protect your paint from that kinda stuff ?

I've heard that Zoop works good for wheels.

I just got some "WheelWax" from Advanced Auto, haven't tried it yet but it claims to seal/protect, and resist brake dust build up. i'll let you know how it works.

Frequent washing and removal of contaminants, especially brake dust, is the first step. Use a chrome polish if you need it after washing.

A wax or paint sealant will do a good job of protecting the chrome after it's cleaned and polished.

Some chrome polishes do offer a layer of protection, but I've not used one that was quite as durable as paint sealants.

Regular car wax works excellent btw- I detail for a living...great protection as long as you use wash N wax regularly, not a rim cleaner it will strip all polish and wax

I would use wax as well. good 2 remove oxidation. then I usually hit it up with good ole Mothers Chrome Polish* works beautifully.

Turtle Wax made a chrome polish that worked awesome for removing rust stains and oxidation.
To be honest I didnt really care for Mothers Chrome Polish- but thats just me.

Almost forgot, there was a jar of stuff I used called Wheel Wax. I don't recall if that was the actual manufacturer, or what. But that was def. the best for protection...from what I've used anyways. I've seen it on American Racing's site, so I assume it's good.

Don't drive it. Thats about the only way to keep dings, scratches and chips at bay. As for brake dust...after the wheel is clean, I use whatever wax I'm using on the paint at the time. I really like Meguiar's #21 for this. I just take an applicator pad thats already saturated with 21 from waxing the paint. Has worked well.

It has isopropanol in it. So it would most likely remove any protection.
