Good news...and BAAAD news...

well, as some of you may know, i've been fighting with my '83 GMC trying to figure out why it's so weak and why it got SUCH bad gas mileage...well, good news is, the fight is over...bad news is this...i had just finished putting on a new carb base gasket yesterday...i fired the "beast" (:LOL: ) up and all was well...then it choked down and died...i fired it back up and what to my wondering ears should appear? clunk clunk clunk clunk...A FRIKKIN ROD KNOCK!!! so my 305 ate sh!t. well, i wanted a bigger motor anyway...time to 350 it!

yea, a big block would be great...except for the whole "gas is about 3.00/gal for regular and i have to drive this pig daily" thing. not to mention, i'd have to replace my transmission too and i'm not looking to do that right now. so a nice 350 that i can later build into a 383 will suit me just fine. i'm going through withdrawls though because i miss my truck so bad...man i wish i had the cash to throw a motor in it right now!!

my 305 is has a bad knock for almost 6000 km now lol just as well to to kill it
gives me time to save up for a 350 and some goodies to build it.

well, with how loud this knock is i'm not gonna drive it...not gonna risk being stranded on the side of the road and having to get it towed

its a V8, not a B16A... your more than likely to get bad mileage no matter what you put in... you might as well be going fast while doing it :)

350s a good choice... but take your time as much as possiable... have some fun with it and put in the goodies that would suck to have to put in later

yep, that's the plan...it just sucks having to bum rides from people because my wife works and this is our second vehicle...:(
