Got a 79 C20 longbox 2wd today at an auction sale for 50 bucks. Beds a little kinked and there is some rust. 350 with a 4 speed stick in it. It needs a rad and a new cam and it should run (I'm told). Red on Red. Pics later tonite I hope.

Can you use 1/2 ton stuff on a c20? I want to bag and shave this thing competley, led tails, shaved gate. How well could it work? If all else fails I could get it running (got the parts) and have a what would happen if truck :LOL:

On a 79, the only difference between ½ ton and 3/4 ton I believe was stiffer springs (coils and leafs) so yes, everything should transfer over.

I just checked and it is 8 bolt all the way around, never had the hubcaps off to check. Took pics, just gotta upload em and post em now

And it has pink doorpanels and seatbelt buckles.

Needs an alternator as well, and the rockers are pretty bad on the cab. Whole new doors and a tailgate would be easiest. The bottoms of the front fenders are rusted, but overall not bad for 50 bucks.

50 bucks? Wow, you've less rust than mine does. Good score. Keep us updated. You planning on bags, static, lift, or none? Custom interior, or restored? do tell, I'm interested in doing similar to my rusty '77. :cool:

Well, i'm wanting to do a ratted out look, stock steel 16's, baby moons, flat paint. I got some 82 Camaro buckets to go in for now. Gotta get er running first though. I plan on covering the dash pad in red tweed, and just spraying everything else flat black inside for now. Put in a tube grill, spray it flat black. Get a chrome front bumper, shave everything else, and put GMC headlight trim on, like on the 78 bale truck it's hooked to. I'm only 15, but am half decent at bodywork already, so it's gonna be slow going ;)

What am I gonna have to get to lower this beast? Does 1 ton stuff fit? 1/2 ton? Are the frames the same (if I get a 4 link kit and bag it)? I'm really confused, seems theres not a lot of stuff to drop C20's.

Farm auction :D There was a 78 GMC beside it, rustier, but it was running condition, that sold for 1050. C20 2WD, same as this one.
